Below is one of the first pictures sent back by the Mars twin rover Opportunity. Opportunity landed in
a region called Meridiani Planum
in a shallow crater that is about 66 feet in diameter. Scientists are excited about the outcropping of rock nearby because this lets
them see what is below the surface.
