Lucy Claydon/Hadley/Schubert/Cluss (1859-1952)
Lucy, born 7 June 1859, was the illegitimate daughter of Christiana Claydon. Christiana married James Hadley, two years after Lucy’s birth, on 12 March 1861. Lucy then took the surname of Hadley.
Lucy married Joseph Schubert on 6 November 1876, aged 17 years at Forster Town, Cape Hawke and had 15 children.
Lucy’s husband Joseph died while they were living at Peg Leg Creek, Tinonee (Taree District) on 19 December 1909.
Lucy remarried again when she was about 56 years old, around 1915, to Charles (or Phillip) Cluss. This husband died a few years later leaving Lucy a widow again. Lucy lived for several more years in the Taree district and at the time of her death she was living at 229 Victoria Street Taree with her daughter Clara Harper and family.
Lucy died 13 December 1952 aged 93 years in the Manning District Hospital of Cerebral softening and arteriosclerosis. She is buried in the Church of England cemetery at Dawson NSW.
Lucy’s mother, Christiana Hadley died in 1936 aged 91 years and is buried at Forster NSW.
