| Most of us didn't know this individual before a traumatic head injury forever altered her life. We have only witnessed her grow as an individual from high school and beyond. To fully grasp the vastness of this person?' accomplishments we must go back to the day when at age six she was struck by an automobile. As a result of her injuries, she spent 10 weeks in a coma, several weeks on life support, and 6 months in a hospital. She had to learn to do everything once again?things we often take for granted...such as sitting up, swallowing, walking, and talking. She has had to overcome numerous obstacles physically, emotionally, academically, and socially. Her speech was affected most by the head injury and became worse after brain surgery. Because it is difficult for some people to understand her, she has turned to writing and found that she has a talent for it. She expresses her feelings and thoughts through poetry. Her poems have been published in two different coffee table poetry books. She also has her own book of poetry published. Currently she works part time at Ann's Florist. The Class of 1992 is very honored to know her and at this time we would like to recognize Miss Angela Brand for her accomplishments. |

My Reunion BY Angela Brand, 2002 I just went to my tenth year reunion, and I had a blast, I saw so many familiar faces, from the past. It was such a wonderful night, being with all my friends, and it just felt so right, I hated to see it come to an end. I won an award, and I was so touched, to think that all my classmates, thought I deserved it so much. When the night was over, I wished time could have stood still, because nobody will ever know, how that night made me feel. |
