The Grand Plaza of Tikal has a very unique design, its solid-pyramid-like structure that has a square base that slopes together finally meeting a smaller square top.
This temple was a worship place for the Mayan's gods. At the foot of this temple sits several sacrifice rocks. The sacrificing rocks were used for Human sacrificing. The pyramid is now only a tourists site. The Plaza is and was  surrounded by stele and sculpted altars, ceremonial buildings, residential palaces, and a ball court. The Grand Plaza is approximately 45 meters high.
