I am a Scottish American, partly by birth and partly by inclination. One of the wonderful things about the Scots is the fact that you can be 'adopted' into a clan, just by expressing your desire to do so. If you have a wee drop o' Scottish blood, that's good, too, but not entirely necessary.
We welcome any 'Scot o' the heart'.
