What instrument (s) do you play? My main instrument is the guitar.  I've played drums in a band before, and I noodle around on the piano every once in awhile.  Nothing serious, though.

What are your musical influences? Within the band we all have a pretty wide range of influences.  Me, personally, I like a lot of the older 90's 'alt rock' stuff.  Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam (ten era), Weezer's "Blue" album...  That was the stuff that made me want to pick up a guitar and start to play.  Nowadays I pretty much listen to anything.

What is your favorite band/musician right now? We recently got a chance to play with the band Dogwood.  They really rocked.  I've been playing their stuff on Kazaa like mad lately.  I've also been playing a lot of a band called "yellowcard."  They're kind of a poppy hooky rock group with a violin.  I've no idea if they're even still together or not, but I really like 'em.

What inspires you to play? Mainly....God.  He's the one who gave me the gifts I'm using so its only natural that He pushes me to go.  Aside from that, the people.  I love meeting people and what better way to do so than at a show full of 'em.

When was Joey's Loss formed? Before I joined they were called 180 Turnaround and had been around since '97 (or around there.)  I joined in 2000, and we changed our name to Joey's Loss.  The current line-up (with our new bass player Ryan) has been together for about a year now.

What is the best show you've ever played?  Why? Any show at Club 2*28.  I don't know what it is about that place, but it was always just really fun playing there.  Kind of like a 'home' for us.

What is the worst show you've ever played?  Why? On tour last summer our booking guy set up a show on 'the liberty kentucky court house steps.'  I knew from the get go that this would be a freakin' disaster.  There were literally 2 people there aside from the other band we were touring with.  Fortunately for us, they stayed around and watched the whole set and bought merch afterwards.  Still, quite a disappointing show...but something we look back on and laugh at.

Favorite venue?
Joe's Java in Wilmington, OH.  Think of a nice, nice coffee house.  Think of all the candy, drinks, food, etc. in the coffee house.  Now imagine that you've been turned loose in it to eat/drink whatever you want.  That's Joe's Java.  The owners are incredibly nice people, the venue is immaculate, excellent sound, excellent employees, everything a venue should be.  Joe's Java also doubles as an outreach to the homeless in the city.  Absolutely nothing but good vibes comes from that place.  It's a total blessing to get to play there.

Whats going on with Joey's Loss right now? At the moment, we're busy recording our second full length album (due out in May) and just playing a lot of shows.  At the last count I think we're playing 13 shows in the month of March, balanced w/our work, school, girlfriends and recording....it would be an understatement to say its been a busy, busy month.

When is your next show? Our next local show is April 10th with Senryu at Patrick Sullivan's.  18+, 9PM, 5 bones.
