ScholarDragon's
Lair
***************************************************************************

Greetings and welcome to my humble lair.
::The sound of gravelly rumbling
drifts from somewhere deep in the shadows::
Oh, do not fear the dragon.  She's not
all that dangerous...or at least she has not eaten anyone lately...that I know of.
::An
exasperated snort can be heard from behind you as a billowing breeze of steam
blows past::
Please come in, take a seat and I will tell you about myself.

I was born in Memphis, Tennessee and lived there for my first four years.  My
father was employed in a restaurant about two hours drive (at that time) in Corinth, Mississippi.  A year after my sister was born, we moved to Corinth, Mississippi so that
he did not have to do the weekly commutes and since he had bought the restaurant.  I
started helping out at the restaurant at the age of six for the astonishing salary of $0.50
per hour.  Hey, it was enough to buy candy.  As time past, I was able to help out more
and more in the restaurant.  I evolved from washing dishes to prepping foodstuffs and
working every station except the actually cooking, since that was my father's domain.
To this day, my parents still own and run the restaurant.  Though I am currently too
far away to work, my siblings help out with the family business.

I attended the Alcorn Central School system located in Glen, Mississippi for
the duration of elementary, middle and high school.  *Go Golden Bears*  While
in High School, I participated in the BETA Club, Math Team, Academic Team,
Mu Alpha Theta, Pride Marching Band, and Media Club.  During my freshman
year, we had an exchange student from China.  The funny thing was that the staff
would get us mixed up especially when we were in the same class or only one of
us was seen.  I graduated from Alcorn Central High School in May 2001 in the
"Top Ten" of my class and as "Star Student."

I moved back to Memphis, Tennessee in August 2001 to attend the University
of Memphis as a Biology major and second generation Tiger.  As an undergraduate,
I became a member of the University Honors Program, Golden Key International
Honors Society, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Phi Eta Sigma.  During my senior year, I completed an Honors Thesis titled "Comparison of the Developmental Ontogeny of
Isozymes in
Tribolium confusum and Tribolium castaneum" and presented my
research at the University of Memphis "Works in Progress Symposium" and Spring
Research Forum, the Tennessee Academy of Science, and the National Conference of Undergraduate Research.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree,
Cum Laude status and University Honors from the University of Memphis during 2005.

At the beginning of June, I packed up and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana.  I am
now a graduate student in the Master of Science in Medical Science (MSMS) Program
at the Indiana University School of Medicine.  The program consists of a ten-week
summer program that preps for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) in
August and at least a year of graduate level coursework.  I am enjoying living outside
of the South for a change and getting to see the sights when I am busy with classes.
More information can be accessed about the MSMS Program via the link to the left.

There are several activities that I enjoy participating in whenever I can find the time.
I participated in TaeKwon-Do since the age of six and became certified as a Black
Belt under the standards of Unified TaeKwon-Do International the weekend before
starting my undergraduate studies at the University of Memphis.  I also collect many
different things but focus mainly on dragon-related items, such as candles, figurines,
posters, T-shirts, swords and daggers, and various other things.  I do collect some non-
dragon items like books, baseball caps, and postage stamps from around the World.  I
enjoy folding origami, watching movies, knitting, crochetting, cross stitching, reading,
and traveling.  GSIV is also a past-time that I greatly enjoy though I have not lately
been able to participate as much as I would like.
