eternal life. Chan is whiteout doubt the most skilled warrior in whole Cathay
and every year he chooses three students from the three dojo’s in Chengu to
initiate them in the Oldest martial arts and although he is blind, he
perfection the moves from his students and points them their mistakes with only
his ears to guide him. Chan went blind when he rescued the oldest of all the
cathaian dragons Thuichi from the evil Chaos warriors who tried to mutate him
to use him for their selves. In the famous battle that followed, Chan-su-Wang faced
an evil sorcerer of Tzeentch, the fight was long and exhausting, but finally
Chan killed the Tzeentch sorcerer, but when the sorcerer died, lightning struck
the eyes of Chan, marking him for life with a scar and leaving him blind.
Yin, the hunter
Yin was born in Xuzin, but when he was still a youth, he saw a falcon being shot by an arrow and he left his village to search it, he found the falcon and saw which was struck by a Hobgoblin arrow. Yin took care of the falcon and trained him better then any other falcon ever seen in Xuzin, where he is known as Soto or king among eagles. Yin seemed to be a very strong and wise warrior and together with Soto and the “white fangs”, a regiment of the fastest and strongest men in Xuzin he has rescued many villages and crushed many hobgoblin skulls. Yin has even saved the emperor when the emperor was hunting in Xuzin he was attacked by a band of Hobgoblin raiders, but Soto saw these evil creatures and warned Yin who rode as fast as possible and drove the hobgoblins away. The emperor thanked Yin and gave him Chuzou the hunting spear as a token of gratitude.
Hitakiri, the lost
daughter
Hitakiri is the daughter of
emperor, but she never liked the palace and was tired of all these servants
watching her all day, so on a cold day in the winter she escaped from the
palace and fled to Chengu where she was initiate in the martial secrets of the
Chiang-Hu swordmasters, but she had to cut her hear to not be discovered. She
learned fast and completed every exercise with glance, but when she was about
to become a full swordmasters someone discovered she was a girl and she was
banned from the dojo. Embittered she left to the mountains training against the
evil beasts that live there. After years of wandering through the mountains she
met Takari Mitajime an old mage who lived in the mountains, he was sick and was
attacked by a band of Marauders, she brought him to his house and took care of
his wounds, but the mage knew it wouldn’t help, he forged for her Green
Destiny, a sword made of the purest meteoric iron and with an emerald blade.
Hitakiri rarely shows up in battles, but when she does she brings death to
every opponent she faces.
Takari Mitajime
Takari Mitajime was once a very great mage who could compete with even the most powerful elven mages. When he was a young boy, he was weak and his parents were very worried about him and so they brought him to the great healer of Chengu. This man saw the magical energies flowing through Takari’s blood and he proposed to adopt the boy and raise him with the needed care. The parents accepted this offer with pain in their hearts and left the young boy in the hands of the Chengu mage. Takari grew up to be a great mage and his adoption father saw he would surpass him very soon in the aspect of magic. He became jealous on his son and tried to assassinate him, but Takari was warned by a bird and fled into the mountains and to the steppes of Xuzin. Finally after years of studying he went back to the mountains to write a book about his experiences and also to study the forging of magic weapons, since he felt his role was not yet to be finished. When he had finally written his book, he went out in the mountains to share his joy with the birds and plants, but he was attacked by a band of Indian marauders. It was then when he saw a young girl and he forged for her the most powerful blade, consecrated with his own blood, before he passed away.
Shin
Okada hails from the Mikasu tribe, but he lost his father at a very young age
and therefore he was sort of raised by the Shantun black powder college. And
when he was still a youth, he knew more then almost every other engineer, but
after he proposed to develop a firearm which could be used by normal missile
troops, he was banned from the city because the elder engineers saw this as a
personal attack. When he was banned from Shantun, he travelled to the city of
Shang-Yang, but his mother gave him a
small sapphire pendant as a memory. The reason he went to Shang-Yang was
because of their more open vision on old traditions. Here he lived a secluded
life and he tried many ways to incorporate the use of black powder in small
missile weapons. His first attempts
were very poor and the weapons tend to explode when he fired them, but after
years of studying and practice, he came up with a firearm that was small and
convenient, but also had quite some hitting power. After the developing of this
weapon he went out to the mountains to practice his skill in using it. At first
he was amazed by the pressure the weapon put on his shoulder when he fired, but
when he got more used to it, he even saw small faults which could be
fine-tuned. When Shin after several other years of practice managed to kill one
of the beasts which live in the mountains he considered himself to be ready to
join a fight. Of course he would not be able to go to battle all by himself and
therefore he recruited several young men from the city of Shang-Yang an taught
them the basic principals of black powder. He only took men up in his squad who
were able to craft their own guns with only minimal help from their master,
therefore it is obvious that the whole squad are magnificent engineers. After
forming this elite squad of gunner-engineers, Shin offered his services in the
army of Shang-Yang to secure the trade route.
He has surprised many friends and foes with the strength of his weapons
and now his advice is considered to be more worth then even the advice from the
Shantun black powder college. This has made Shin even less wanted in his home
province, but his services are wanted dearly in any other province and
therefore Shin pays no attention to this home province anymore. The only reason
why he ever returned to Shantun was on his mother’s funeral.

someone in Shin’s regiment dies, the stone will sing a strange chant of doom
and despair. The character/unit which killed the member must take an immediate
leadership test, if the test is failed he loses a –2 Ld penalty for the rest of
the battle.
Tien and Lao
Chang
Tien and Lao Chang are the famous twins who were born on the shores of Fuzhou. When they were still young they practiced their skills on each other and soon it was clear that Tien was more impulsive then hr brother who just had to wait until she dropped her defence by making an imprecise attack, tough his attacks weren’t nearly as powerful as his sister’s. When they were about to become adults their village was raided by a Dark elf fleet and they got captured by these evil elves. After several days or perhaps even weeks without food or water, they finally arrived at the city of Karond Kar. Here they were selled as slaves to one of Karon Kar’s highborns. This highborn divided his slaves into teams, linked them with a chain and equipped one with a sword and the other one with a shield and let them fight against the other slaves in the arena of Karond Kar to entertain the people. Tien and Lao seemed to coordinate very well, Tien was very skilled with the sword and Lao managed to block any attacks against them. After some months they were the most famous ( and longest living ) arena fighters in whole Nagaroth, even the Witch King heared about their fabulous exploits in the arena and decided to take them as his personal “champions” in the arena. After the Witch King had bought them, Tien and Lao Chang were moved to the city of Nagarond. On the way to Nagarond, Tien cut through their chain and they escaped from the convoy, but soon the dark riders had caught them and they were locked in a cage. When the Witch King heard about this attempt to escape, he ordered to make a new and magical imbued chain immediately. When Tien and Lao arrived at Nagarond, they were bound together with this magical chain and sent into the great arena of Nagarond. Their first fights were a real surprise to the people of Nagarond and even the Witch King himself was surprised by the skill of his new slaves. He ordered to feed his new arena champions well and even let forge a magical sword for Tien which he liked most, because of her true sense of killing. After several years of fighting in the arenas of Nagarond, the Witch King had a surprise for them: in their next fight, they met a regiment of ten executioners in the ring, all determined to slay them. Amazingly Tien and Lao slew all of their attackers and when they were led back to their cells they took their chance and slew the guard who conducted them in order to escape. Lao had studied the labyrinths of the arena very well and they managed to get alive and well out of this complex of murder. When they escaped out of the arena, the whole town was lokking for them, but again Lao had studied the plan of the city while he was in his cell and by night they escaped out of the city, travelling southwards in the hope to escape. After years of travelling through the wilderness, they entered the great jungles of Lustria, here they found a group of elves, who lived together with lizardmen, willing to bring them back to Cathay. In battle they are always seen where things look worst, fighting in the traditional Cathaian style, which saved their lives in the realm of Dark Elves.

Tien and Lao Chang may be used in any
cathain army, but will take up a Lord slot as well as a hero slot. They must be
fielded exactly as described below and no additional equipent or magic items
may be bought for them.
Points:
Weapons: The dark blade, chain of nightmares
Armour: Tien and Lao wear heavy armour and a shield.
Hate
Dark Elves: after
all these years they spent in Nagaroth, Tien and Lao have developed a burning
hatred against the ones who kept them prisoner. They therefore hate all Dark
elves.
Magic Items
The
dark blade:
This blade was forged by the dark smiths of Nagaroth in order of the Witch king
with the intent to be one of the most cruel blades ever seen in the arena.
This
blade confers a +1 to wound and +1 to hit bonus.
The
chain of nightmares: This chain is a painful memory to the dark catacombs of Nagaroth,
always when they are touched by anything pure of spirit, the chain burns in
their flesh. No Cathaian knows what the
dark blue glowing runes on their bands mean, but it is certain that they don’t
mean anything good.
In all
these fights in the arenas, Tien and Lao have learned how to use the
disadvantage of the chain in their advantage. Instead of making their normal
attacks, they may choose to decapitate their victim by jumping in the air and
slashing his head on with the chain. This is counted as a S5 attack with no
armour saves allowed.
The
stone of defence: Lao
keeps this mall stone, which he received this stone from an old and cripple elf
which he met in the black arc safely in his pocket. The Elf said he would need
it to survive longer then a couple of weeks in the land of Chill.
This
stone gives Lao ( and Tien ) the regeneration ability as described on page 113
of the warhammer rulebook.
