TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Spring 2001 Student Teaching - West Windsor Plainsboro High School, Plainsboro, NJ

Emphasized critical thinking and problem solving skills in preparing two choirs for school concert.  Taught two levels of music theory classes focusing on four-part writing, composition, improvisation, and ear training skills.  Gave individual voice lessons to students of varying levels.

Spring 2000 Secondary Practicum - Pennsbury High School, Pennsbury, PA

Observed and conducted numerous choirs in repertoire for the upcoming concert.   Main skills focused on were music reading skills, tone color, and breath control.

Fall 1999 Elementary Practicum - Judd Elementary School, North Brunswick, NJ

Observed and taught integrated arts lessons to grades K-5 based on composers Ludwig Van Beethoven and Benjamin Britten.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Spring 2000-present Conducting Intern - Westminster Conservatory, Princeton, NJ

Served as one of four conducting interns with the Westminster Conservatory Youth Chorale conducted by Frank Abrahams.  Prepared a concert of Hanukkah music, Schubert’s Mass in G Major, and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Fall 1999- Summer 1999 Conducting Intern - Westminster Conservatory, Princeton, NJ   

Served as conducting intern with the Westminster Conservatory Chamber Chorale conducted by Jason Iannuzzi.  Prepared a madrigal dinner, concert of newly composed music, and an a capella jazz concert

Fall 1999- Summer 1999 Assistant Director - Westminster Conservatory, Princeton, NJ

Served as assistant director to Pamela Hoffman and Rita Asch in a musical theatre program for Middle School students.  Coached all the singers on their songs, and worked individually with them on the staging of the show.

Summer 1998  Choral Conductor - New Apostolic Church, Clifton, NJ

Conducted regional choir in master-class focusing on ensemble singing within a church choir.         

Fall 1998-Spring 1998 Assistant Music Director - S. Plainfield High School, S. Plainfield, NJ           

Served as assistant musical director for “Godspell”.
