I love fossils me. The Fresh air, the seaside, the rocks that used to be animals or plants.
I can't get enough of it.
I collect from Kent mostly, from Folkestone and the Chalk which are Cretaceous and Sheppey, Tankerton and Herne Bay which are Eocene. Most fossils I find are for sale and can be seen and bought on the rest of the site. A little bit about the locations now. Please click on the location title to view the fossils for sale from each. |

|
Folkestone: Gault Clay. This is a marvelous site offering ammonites and all sorts of fauna and flora. I collect from the clay cliffs for good complete specimens and from between the rocks on the shore for more common fossils washed out of the frequent land-slides by the sea. Spectacular original shell ammonites are very popular from this site. |

The Chalk: Plenty of this in Kent. Chalk is full of fossils both in the chalk and as flint nodules. The trouble is that they tend to be rather fragile and many are broken during excavation with a hammer, chisel and pick. The up-side of these sorts of fossils is that they are intricate, detailed and beautiful. |

Sheppey- Smaller fossils found here are mainly preserved in pyrite - There are many different species of gastropods as well as a wide variety of seeds and nuts. Bivalves, brachiopods, corals and fish parts are also found. Nodules found on the foreshore sometimes yield crab and fish fossils, which I sell periodically on ebay. |

Herne Bay- An excellent site for a variety of species of shark teeth. I also find large oyster shells preserved in pyrite as well as the original shell in sandy clay. The latter are fragile though. Sometimes I find the odd bullet from dog fights in WW2. A lovely spot to go fossiling to. |
