12-14 September, 2003
On Friday evening, Pauli and I met Esko and Taina to drive a few hours north to another summer cottage.  This one belonged to Eve's parents, and there we met Eve, her fiance Toni, Marru, Anne, and Mikko.  Antti would meet us there Saturday night after he got done with a voluntary military practice.

The ten of us were there the entire weekend and it was great.  They have the most traditional of the Finnish saunas, called a smoke sauna.  This means that it doesn't have a chimney, so the fire burns many hours before you enter the sauna.  7 or 8 hours later, the wood is done burning but the stones are hot enough to keep the sauna warm all night.  We enjoyed the sauna both on Friday and Saturday night.

Again, the summer cabin was situated on a lake and in the middle of nowhere.  The boys were especially excited as there was a jet ski that we could all play wth.  Since it is already too cold for water sports here, we had some wet suits to use.  It was a really great weekend.
Top Row:  Esko and Pauli have an interesting use for the hair clip.
Second Row:  Taina, Antti, Marru, and Mikko in the living room; Marru with a big smile.
Third Row:  Pauli skiing behind the jetski; Toni making sausages over the fire for us outside.
Fourth Row:  Pauli and I in wetsuits; Esko and Pauli wearing the labels of the vodka they're tasting.
Bottom:  Antti looks pretty comfortable with Taina and Marru.
