Schizoaffective
disorder includes elements of both psychosis and features of bipolar disorder.
Psychotic symptoms mean a loss of contact with reality, and may include
hallucinations (hearing voices or seeing things that are not present), and
delusions (false, fixed beliefs). Symptoms of mood disorder include very low or
very high mood with sleep disturbances, mania, changes in energy and appetite,
disrupted concentration, and generally poor daily function. |

The new Medicare drug benefit went into effect
Jan. 1, 2006. The biggest problem is for the low income individuals who have
severe mental illness. Some of these people who are eligible have been getting their
prescription filled as consistent with the law. Others have encountered problems
when attempting to get a prescription filled. Some of these problems include no
electronic record of enrollment, a newly imposed deductible and being denied
because of prior authorization requirements. There are concerns that this new
drug benefit won't help all equally. Forbes.
