SPIDER-MAN FILM REVIEW
After a wait of over 17 years, I finally have a review to the film adaptation of Spider-Man.
First let's start out with the most important question: Was it worth the roughly 17 year wait?YES, it's probably second in the comic book adaptaions only to the original Superman. What an energenic high velocity adrenaline rush of a film.
Characters:
Peter Parker/Spider-Man:Tobey Maguire IS Peter Parker! Not since Christopher Reeve has a comic book character been portrayed so perfectly. He really is the super hero that could be me. No dates, picked on, but as Spider-Man, it's a release from his problems...well sort of. My ONLY nitpick is that Spider-Man did not crack enough wise, but hey, why gripe?
Norman Osborn/Green Goblin: Dafoe is the man! What a convincing performance of a man driven mad and at war with himself! But it probably would have been a little bit cooler if his mask showed somekind of expression besides the opening eye pieces.
Mary Jane Watson: She is the woman of a young man's dreams. Part of the cool crowd, but still gives Peter that sense that she is aware of his existence.
Ben and May Parker: Yes, I did cry a little when Ben died. The two show the decency that is required for Peter as he decides to use his powers for good.
J.Jonah Jameson:IF J.K. Simmons DOES NOT get an Oscar Nomination for best supporting actor, that will be highway robbery!
The Film:
There are so many ways the film could have gone wrong. Hell They could have gotten Joel Schumacher to screw it up, but it is apparent that Sam "The Man" Raimi is a complete Spidey fan! His complete detail to the origin, and the battles, both physical and emotional that Pete faces, are done perfestly to the T! The effects are hit and one or two misses, but the film is all that one could have dreamed of in a Spider-Man adaptation. I just might go in as early as next weekend to see it!
My Rating:(out of the 4 mondos) What else 4 mondos!
