Recent Reviews
If there is a film in the theaters that I want to see, obviously I will go see it. And since I am very opinionated, I like to write reviews of the films so here are reviews of recent releases! I will give the film 1 to 4 mondos, as opposed to stars.
The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of the King: With the hope that Frodo is still alive, Aragorn, Gandalf and the rest, do what they can to keep Sauron's eye fixed on them, which means putting the world of man in mortal danger. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam deal with the shady Gollum who does whatever he can to take the ring before it is destroyed. A small review can not explain the magnitude of this film, it's epic scale, it's wonderful acting. I swear this the best film trilogy ever made!
My Rating: 4

The Matrix Revolutions:After dealing with the cliffhanger of "Reloaded", the heroes have to figure out how to stop the 250,000 sentinels from destroying Zion. While this is happening, Neo must figure out how to stop Smith as he claims the Matrix for his own. Yes, this all sounds great on paper, but the execution was HORRIBLE!!!!! I should have known I was in trouble when the first fifteen minutes are all dialogue...that sucked. As good as the effects were, the brothers really didn't have a clue when to end the shots. The ending seems tacked on. I went catatonic for an hour and a half after seeing it!
My rating: 1 1/2
Kill Bill vol 1:A woman known simply as "The Bride" swears revenge on those that tried to kill her along with her unborn child and the rest of her wedding party four years ago. Tarantino is a master but doens't really know it I think as he does things (honestly, I believe) to try and keep away from an NC-17, but give the film that much more weight to it! And it's technically a kung fu film!
My rating:4
The Rundown:A bounty hunter goes after one last quarry in the Amazon and winds up in a journey for a long rumored lost treasure, all the while being persued by a greedy gold miner and his whip totting henchmen. Haven't seen any of these in a long while: an adventure with a sense of humor. It's not hard to like the great one in the film, nor Stiffler, and Chris Walken gives almost a hilarious parody of himself!
My rating: 3 1/2
Underworld:A war exists between werewolves and vampires, with the hairy beats going after a human, and a lady vampire assassin trying to find out why. I watched the film just waiting for something to awe me, be it story wise or special effect wise, I got close towards the end, but logic stopped it. So I was unimpressed and the film sucks, it bites, etc.
My Rating: 1 1/2
Once Upon A Time In Mexico:El Mariachi gets recruited by a rogue CIA agent and caught up in a plot involving a presidential coup in Mexico. If yer looking for more of a plot, that's all I could get out of the film as it takes some many double crosses and turns, I was left confused and bewildered. But it has some solid action though.
My rating : 3

SWAT:A newly recruited team of the LA Special Weapons and Armed Tactics team is given a mission to guard a French drug lord en route to the Feds. But the job is made multiple times harder as ole Frenchie offers $100 million of the news, getting hoods ouy6t of the woodwork. Once or twice, it falls into predictability, but it still owrks as a great action film.
my rating: 3 1/4

Freddy Vs. Jason: Having been forgotten by the town of Springwood, ole' razor claw lures ole hockey mask out of hell to remind them what being afraid feels like. His plan backfires as Jason kills Fred's intended victims, leading to the inevitable clash. A lot more fun than the usual "Friday" film as it keeps the humor, maybe a little bit more than a typical "Nightmare film. It will leave you with a smile at the very end.
My rating 3 1/2 stars

28 Days Later:A month after diseased chimps are released, a man wakes from a coma and tries to find anyone who doesn't want to attack him. He finds almost a hand full of survivors in a desolate London and seek to answer the riddle of a radio broadcast from a military base north of Manchester. Definitely not from the Hollywood cookie cutter mill. Will definitely make you jump.
My rating; 4

Pirates Of The Carribean: The Curse of The Black Pearl:A blacksmith seeks the aid of an imprisoned pirate in order to rescue the kidnapped daughter of the area's governor. It turns out she has been taken by undead pirates seeking to end their curse. It's a lot of fun whilest you are watching the film, you could call this ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRmy of Darkness.
My Rating 3 1/2

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines: It goes back to protect John Connor from a Tx, an advanced prtotype with the capabilities to control machines. Gives you action straight through, without the Cameron questioning of things.
My rating: 2 1/2
HULK:Bruce Banner deals with his inner anger in a very odd way after a lab experimet, coupled with a long ago experimentation by his father, result in the title character. Probably the most serious of all comic book films, if not the most talkative.
My rating: 2 1/2

Bruce Almighty: A special interests reporter believes God has a vendetta against him, and is thusly challenged by him to see if he can do better with the endowed powers. A welcome return to classic Jim Carrey. You will definitely leave the theater with a smile on yer face.
My rating : 3 1/2
The Matrix Reloaded:Neo, Trinity, Morpheus and a slew of rebels must find a way to stop 250,000 sentinel robots from destroying the last human city, Zion. The hype is true on the film as the effects (as well as the story line) are amped up even more to levels of which you'll wonder if you just took a dump in your pants! The film leaves you drooling for Revoltuions coming out in November
My rating: 3 99/100

X2:X-Men United:A colonel seeks to annihiate the entire species of Mutants, with only the title Team and Magneto in the way. Along the way, Logan seeks to find who he is, Rogue gets a frosty kiss, and the school gets invaded. Everything good about the first film has been upped 10 fold and yes this one DOES have a climax/finale!
My Rating : 4
Anger Management:A calm, shy person is wrongfully accused of an inflight tantrum and is sentenced to the title class run by an instructor who may have a few screws loose himself. It is only after being involved with the group does he become angry. The usual Sandler bit and is there anything wrong with that? Nicholson does a great job at convincing you he's a doc who is an insane quack.
My rating: 3
Daredevil:The Man without fear deals with his own inner rage in dealing with the criminals of Hell's Kitchen, whilest juggling a budding relationship and pro bono legal defending. An extremely dark film, a little violent at times, but it never gets to the point of being over the top as everyone treats each respective role as if they were real people. Could use a little more Kingpin though.
My rating: 3 1/2
Shanghai Knights:Chon Wang and Roy O'Bannon travel to London after Chon's sister and the killer of his father and get involved with a few historical figures while trying to stop an assassination of the monarchy. There is a sense of whimsy in this go around as most of the action sequences seem to have classic influences from silent films to Gene Kelly.
My Rating: 3 1/2
