My first thought on wiki was, what is wiki? It sounds funny. Why that name? But after reading, researching and creating my wiki, it all made sense. Now I know wiki came from the word Wikipedia, which is an online encyclopedia. Just as anyone is allowed to update, add or make comments to Wikipedia, so too can anyone add and make changes to my wiki. Isn’t that just the coolest thing? I can also link as many pages as I like and I did 3 for the assignment requirement; as well as pictures, graphics, media, links, etc.

When opening up my wiki to the public my biggest concern is that I am a type of person who doesn’t like anyone to interfere with my work unless they notify me first. So I am also uncomfortable about having someone edit something I might want to have on my page. I have to believe that we (people) all have everyone’s best interest at heart. My other concern is sometimes the reliability of the information posted. How well has the information been researched? I guess that is why Wikipedia always mentions about the reliability of the information. In keeping an open mind, they hope that others with knowledge about certain topics will catch the errors and correct it. So too I am hoping that other will catch my errors and correct them as well.
