OBJECTIVE

Optoelectronic system research and development.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

* PCB/PCBA:  Four years experience with the design and debug of high-speed circuit boards.
* EMC:  Tested, designed and redesigned PCBs and overall systems for electro-magnetic compatibility.
* Optics:  Emphasis of "technical elective" coursework, e.g. Radiometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy and X-ray Microanalysis, and Experimental Spectroscopy, Acoustics and Microscopy.
* Laboratory:  Performed data collection, analysis and error reduction.  Applied thin films using high vacuum and deposition techniques.
* Equipment:  Experienced with microscopes, oscilloscopes, amplifiers, environmental chambers and logic, spectrum, multi-channel and communication signal analyzers.  Over 500 hours experience operating manual machines (e.g. lathes, mills, saws, etc.).
* Programming:  Wrote programs in C/C++, FORTRAN and Pascal in a UNIX and Common Desktop environment to perform physical simulations and complex calculations using a variety of numerical techniques.  Wrote .abl files for Programmable Logic Devices.
* Characteristics:  Reliable, flexible and productive. Values quality and customer satisfaction.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

McDATA Corporation, Broomfield, CO
2004 - 2005

Hardware Test Engineer
* Performed Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) on Fibre Channel switches.
* Developed HALT methodology, procedures, equipment and analysis techniques.
* Performed data analysis, and wrote reports presenting HALT test results for design engineers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).
* Wrote programs in C++ for analyzing Storage Area Network (SAN) data.

Spectra Logic Corporation, Boulder, CO
2000 - 2004

Regulatory Compliance Engineer, Sustaining Engineering, Manufacturing Department
* Coordinated Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and safety testing.  Debugged and redesigned products to address EMC and safety issues.  Obtained regulatory reports and certificates, and updated and corrected regulatory files for all Spectra Logic products to comply with regulatory agency standards for Internet Technology Equipment (i.e. IEC 60950 and its national variations).
* Redesigned PCBs to address inherent problems and incorporate new features increasing product reliability and functionality.
* Worked with contract manufacturers to address PCB assembly issues.
* Designed and built test fixtures and wrote test procedures for circuit boards and electronic assemblies to be used in-house or at any contract manufacturer to ensure product quality.
* Maintained four products' production lines providing continuous output to meet shipping deadlines.

Engineering Technician, Advanced Engineering Department
* Assisted with the design of PCI host adapter circuit boards with Gigabit Ethernet, 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel and Ultra 320 SCSI interfaces, and drew the schematics for these boards using Mentor Graphics' Design Capture.
* Conducted signal integrity measurements to verify compliance with Ultra 160 SCSI specifications.
* Conducted thermal measurements of existing low-cost/high-volume tape library for qualification of a new power supply to fit in a tightly constrained environment.
* Simulated power dissipation and derived airflow requirements of circuit board enclosures for new product introduction.

Electronic Technician, Manufacturing Department
* Trouble-shooting of high-speed circuit boards with various types of inputs and outputs (e.g. Fibre Channel, HVD, SE/LVD, CAN, PCI, PC104, Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet) in an Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) safe environment.
* Performed data collection and analysis of power-up deficiencies of ASIC PLL circuit on soft reset.
* Worked with Sustaining, Design and Firmware Engineers on product improvement.
* Record keeping in Microsoft Access database, and reprogramming of the database to better suit record keeping needs.

Amazing Video and Redemption, Tucson, AZ
1999 - 2000
