Snapper Jones gathers his wits about him quickly. His knowledge of the Shi'Karra is limited to a few experiences he had with the Kree while bonded to Captain Marvel. This was really more JLX or Alpha Guard material. Best to try diplomacy first. "We're from Earth. Forgive the unannounced intrusion, but we are looking for a lost ally and wound up hear by mis…"

"Yes! She may be in trouble. Can you direct us to her?"

The Shi'Karren warrior lashes out at the distortion field surrounding the Time Square, breaching it with ease. Gladiauron's fist, ordinarily a purplish color like the rest of his skin, begins to glow a golden hue. Only Universe Boy is aware that Gladiauron was once transformed into a mad god with the power to destroy whole star systems. He deduces that contact with the 4-D environment could be returning him to this state.

"We're gonna need help, kids! Hour-Father, contact the Judgment Legion: A. The rest of us better put everything we have into defense!"

Gladiauron is dimly aware of his increasing power levels, but cannot break off the attack. The flare up does trigger alarms established by Nova Primus and Zeta-Beam Bill that alert the Omega Guard of a potential crisis. Within microseconds a Shi'Karren battle cruiser materializes out of hyperspace to investigate.

Spider-Boy is less dogmatic in his approach. "Didn't I read somewhere that Torpedo took this guy out single-handedly?" He springs forth with both fists ready to pummel the former Praetor of the Shi'Karren Omega Guard into submission.

The rest of the Young Justice League Avengers wince as Spidey becomes familiar with the notion of a vacuum. Outside the distortion field he lacks both the density and air supply to survive. Hour-Father tries to throw a micro-field up around him, but the loss of the Chronoulog renders his efforts ineffective.

It is Gladiauron's response to the attack that saves the Arach-Kid, as a backhanded slap sends him hurling back into the field. Wondercat braces herself against the 2-D/4-D Time Square to catch him, but his velocity is too great and they both collide into Chuck Baldwin…

…which sends the hero called Bouncing Ball into a frenetic state of motion. He rebounds and ricochets off every semi-tangible surface within the field, building up quantum mass and energy at a logarithmic rate. Red Vision and Wondercat do what they can to prevent him from impacting against anyone, but it is Sparrow who finds a way to negate the threat.

"Universe Boy, pull your shield in! Surround Bouncing Ball with it! Universe Boy follows her advice and drops the only defense protecting the Time Square from Gladiauron's attacks. The Omegan, almost fully charged with xanthic energy, takes advantage of the distraction and prepares to pummel them into one-dimension.

His advance is met by Sparrow as she releases a volley of pyrotechnics-- at the quantum-enhanced Bouncing Boy. "Let him go!" Having reached a state of near infinite kinetic energy inside Universe Boy's force field, the rotund hero needed only the slightest tap to send him careening in the opposite direction. He meets Gladiauron halfway, and the two irresistible forces collide in an explosion that mere words cannot do justice. Arrowcaster is reminded of the destruction of Death Star 9, Spider-Boy recalls the rebirth of the universe that followed the Secret Crisis of the Infinity Hour, and Snapper Jones tries to envision what the afterlife will be like.

The rest of the Omega Guard responds to the light show by trying to lock in a tractor beam on Gladiauron. The sensors on board their ship cannot find him. He has either traveled outside the perimeters of the Shi'Karren Empire, or no longer exists. The YJLA-Next are equally dismayed when Red Vision senses only one form remains where the two met, a form sharing energy signatures of both combatants. Hour-Father groans, "Please don't make this another one of those 'amalgam' gimmicks."

The being that remains appears to be a perfect sphere, but it is rotating so quickly it is impossible for anyone to tell if it possesses any features at all. Oracalista of the Omega Guard tries to contact it telepathically but its thoughts are spinning as fast as its form.

Finally it slows down to a speed just under that of light. "I feel like Oa the Living Beach-Ball," the hyper-accelerated hero says (although neither team can understand him until they play back recordings of him at ultra-low frequency).

On board the battleship, Titan Teen panics. "Ahh! He ATE Gladiauron!!" The Glandular-enhanced new recruit disembarks and grows to his full size, a height exceeding 200 kilometers. "Time for a game of kick-ball!"

The intended kick never makes contact, as another enormous contender enters the field and blocks him. "That's enough out of you, shorty!" Growing Boy delivers a vicious shove that pushes Titan Teen into the gravity of a not-too-distant planet, dragging him into orbit.

Universe Boy cheers aloud, "Alright, the cavalry's arrived!"

Insect Queen looks at him curiously. "Why the costume change, UB? Afraid you weren't tacky-looking enough for your friends out there?"

"What do you mean? This is how I've always looked, ever since the day I merged with the Uncle Universe presence. Although I have to say I don't remember Spider-Boy and his Super-Amazing Friends having anyone that looks as good as you."

Wondercat watches outside as a whole legion of superheroes arrive in a giant rocket that looks straight out of a 1950's sci-fi feature. "So how is it that the Swiss army knife of superpowers changes into a sexist amnesiac? What's up with that, Father-Time?"

"Reality shifted again. If we weren't inside the distortion field you never would have noticed. Apparently Jonah Samuel's power keeps him in hyperflux, existing simultaneously in all hyper-cross-times. Even I wouldn't have caught on if not for the break down of the timeline we now reside in."

The Legion of Galactic Guardians beams the heroes aboard their spacecraft and shares a brief reunion with Bouncing Ball and Spider-Boy. "We didn't think either of you survived that chronal collapse in 2099, but here you both are facing down the most powerful group of sentients of 1999!" Living lightning Lad seems all too excited to appreciate the gravity of the situation.

"Yeah, just lucky I guess," Spider-Boy replies. "Do you think you can do something about those guys?"

"We're going to have to," Martinex 5 tells him, "Growing Boy is under attack. Everybody grab a belt and an anti-grav ring!"

"Not so fast, facet-face! Your term as chairperson expired 19 minutes ago. We need to elect a new leader!" Kung-Fu Kid's accusation is met with a barrage of verbal retaliations. "That takes longer than a roll-call!" "We'll have to send Growing Boy an absentee ballet!" "How come Multiple Maid gets three votes?" "How could Marty's term expire while we're in the past?"

"SHUT UP!!" Wondercat screams over the roar of nonsensical banter. "My best friend is out there somewhere fighting the Anti-Maggot, or whatever, and a bunch of aliens wants to annihilate us, and you're busy deciding if this is the right time to pick someone to take charge! It's like superheroes of the future gain their powers from stupid-pills or something!"

Molecule Lad sneers at the novice heroine. "It's a time-honored tradition with the LGG. And what we don't have time for is having that tradition put before a committee."

"I am NOT a committee!" Wondercat is restrained by Bouncing Ball and Sparrow, and eventually calms down enough to unclench her fists. A motion is put forth to nominate Star Charlie, someone else seconds it, and with no one running against him Star Charlie becomes the Legion's 22^nd Chairperson. The whole procedure takes about thirty seconds, and is finished before all the force field belts are passed out.

All twenty-two active members (twenty-three if you count Growing Boy) disembark, leaving Bouncing Ball on board to watch after the ship, Hour Father, and the Young Justice League Avengers - Next. The battle lines are drawn as their opposing number pour out of the Omega Guard battle cruiser. {Note** I'm only going through this list once, so you may want to write it down!} Cannonfire pits his energy bursts against the plasma-powered Nimpulse, Chameleon and Hobgorr struggle as each tries to shape-shift into the other's natural predator, Dream Date pulls Demagica into the Dreamlands where both are equal masters, Fantastic Lad attempts to ensnare Huspar while avoiding her deadly whip, Growing Boy finds Titan Teen is not so easily beaten when he is prepared, Kung-Fu Kid and Judo Commando match each others moves with a symmetry akin to the balance of summer and winter as found in the yin and yang, Invisible Girl learns that her powers offer little advantage against Felizibah who fights by sense of smell, Lady Bug and Mote fight on a stray photon discharged by the battle of Living Lightning Lass and Manta Ray, Living Lightning Lad meanwhile takes on Black Electron with shocking results, Martinex 5 engages Min-Tar in a battle of wits to the death (surely, I cannot choose the wine in front of you…), Molecule Lad tests his transmuting might against the inert ore that is Broosar's flesh, Multiple Maid divides and attempts to conquer Ryan'star and his symbiotic companion, Paste-Eater Pete wrestles the bottomless pit that is Seismic for possession of Pete's Paste Pistol, Phantom Cat phases in and out as Yntra meets her half way each time, Psi Girl and Oracalista take to the astral plane while Shadowstar and Nightshade fight inside the quasi-dimension of Nightforce, Star Charlie trades mass for energy in his fight with Zirrith, Sun Lord settles for raw solar energy when dealing with the emerald beams of Greenbolt, Timberwolf by Night rages against furry funk-rocker Fang, Universe Boy plays through a variety of powers just to keep up with the current Omega Guard Praetor Nova Primus, Vance Cosmic wields his magnetic-based telekinesis against Marvel Lad and notices similarities that seem TOO coincidental (even for a Crazy Ivan story), which leaves a recently-returned-to-the-scene Gladiauron (guess he wasn't eaten after all) for the Legion's newest member Wonder to take care of {I think I just set a record for longest grammatically correct run-on sentence}.

While the Hundred Years War is waged within the Shi'Karren Empire, other forces are hard at work seeking to exploit it. Once such entrepreneur is the space pirate (and former Shi'Karren Empress) A'manda Deathbird, who leads a band of criminal mercenaries culled from the slimiest cesspools of the galaxy, known collectively as her Imperial Suicide Squadron! The deposed despot watches the skirmish from a safe vantagepoint in her fortress buried under the surface of Vega IV.

"Those fools can destroy each other and the rest of the Empire for all I care!" she yells to whoever is in earshot. "They seem to have forgotten those meddlesome teenagers from Earth! Goldar, King Sphinx, fetch me their power coins!"

Mentoplex, her chief science officer, chews his lip while coming up with a diplomatic way to say, "I, um… think you may be relying on those television recordings a bit too much. I can think of no reason you should even want to mimic their speech patterns while addressing the crew."

Skeetorski, a sentient utility drone assigned to medical responsibilities, agrees. "The first step is admitting you have a problem."

"I'll assume you were giving me your diagnosis; attempts at humor do not suit you. But you are right, I did let myself get caught up on a tangent. My true objective is the acquisition of a major new power source that arrived simultaneously to the appearance of the Earth heroes."

Foxfire looks up from her screen. "Sensors indicate TWO distinct energy signatures. Both possess characteristics of life and intelligence. I suggest we turn the lesser power against the greater and harness them both."

"That is hardly advice worthy of a tactical officer," sneers Eric the Red Cyborg. "One of those 'energy signatures' matches War-Lok the Monitor, one of Oa's original guardians. Intelligence reports suggest he now exists as two or more individuals. If we face the corruption known as Black Atom he will be easily swayed to our cause. In such a case the other power would be inconsequential."

"The Living Planet's eternal flame is nothing compared to the might of Galactiac, whom I once served as herald. My cosmic power is…"

"Irrelevant against a foe who can control all seven fundamental forces in the universe. You would do well to remember that, as your new field commander, I am in charge here. Only Deathbird may question my decisions." The wounded ego that is Eric the Red Cyborg moves meticulously across the bridge of the outlaw vessel. The other entity some kind of solar eruption. War-Lok should have no trouble defeating it as long as he doesn't enrage it during the pupa stage.

Needless to say, Black Atom the Anti-Magus is currently enraging Cloud by disrupting the gravitational forces her body is generating, preventing her from assimilating control of them during this oh-so important pupa stage. Cloud retaliates with a vaporous attack specially concocted to attack Black Atom's covalent bonds. The displaced weak nuclear force and gravity are spread across several solar systems, causing more destruction than was ever-dreamt possible by…

The Legion of Galactic Guardians bring their ship around and target Cloud. "This doesn't look good," Phoenetix warns her teammates. "They're already widening their radius of effect. We need to act now before…"

Nucleus cuts her off. "Don't talk, just get us in there. Our whole timeline depends on it!"
