Our school is located in the Stavroupoli municipality, in the area of Ilioupoli. The school was founded in 1986. It has a total of 3.300 square meters of which the 1.850 square meters is covered by the school building and the rest is the school yard.

The school consists of 3 levels. It has a total of 12 classrooms, a library, a big room for multiple purposes, an arts room and a computer room.

Due to the fact that another school, the 3rd junior high school, is also under the same roof there are two shifts, morning and afternoon.

During the school year 1999-2000 our school has 4 classes of grade 7 (in Greece Class A, ages 12-13), 3 classes of grade 8 (Class B, ages 13-14) and 3 classes of grade 9 (Class C, ages 14-15).

The ground floor

At the ground floor of our school, there is the headmaster’s office, where each student’s grades or other similar information is kept. There is also a small room in which there is a xerox machine. There is also another office for the headmaster of the school which shares the same building (opposite shift). There is also a room which is used by teachers from both schools. It has some desks and chairs and many shelves for books. Teachers can leave their bags, books, notes etc. so they do not have to carry them all the time.

Moreover, at the ground floor there is a large room, which is for many uses. In this room there is a small stage, where our celebrations take place. Apart from the stage there is a large empty space where chairs are put for the students, who watch the celebration. This room is also used to do gymnastics in, only when the weather is not good. (When the weather is good, we do gymnastics outside, in the two school yards).

There is also a room which is used as a place for storage. There are old chairs, desks, hammers, nails and such things in this room.

Last but not least, at the ground floor there is the favorite place of all students, the canteen! In this mini shop of our school you can find: pizzas, cheese pies, toast, caltsones (something like pizza), soft-drinks, juices, bottle water, chocolates, different kinds of crackers etc and only teachers can buy coffee. Students go to the canteen to buy something to eat or to drink, during the 10 minute-long breaks so most of the time there is “traffic jam”!

If you want to go to the first floor, you can use one of the two staircases going upstairs. The first floor has 7 classrooms, 4 on the left and 3 on the right hand of an aisle and a library which belongs to the school which use the same building (opposite shift). Each classroom has the capacity for 30 students and there is an average of 15 desks (1 desk for 2 students) and a desk for the teacher. Every classroom also has a blackboard, a hanger for the jackets and some shelves for various things such as books and materials.

The second floor

The second floor has 4 classrooms, a chemistry laboratory, a computer room, a library and a video room. There is also a small arts room but it is used by the opposite shift's school.

The chemistry laboratory has got the material that students need in physics and chemistry.

The computer room has 11 computers. One of these computers is the server of our network working with the operating system "Windows NT" and the others are the workstations of the network, working with the operating system "Windows 95". Each computer can be connected to Internet. We also have a laser printer, a ink jet color printer, a scanner and a cd recorder. There is a white board where the teacher writes on with an erasable marker. We have decorated the walls with art work made in the Windows 95' painting program and printed on the color ink jet printer.

The library of our school has about 750 books.

The video room has a video player, a TV, a blackboard, some desks and chairs. There are curtains on the windows in order to prevent daylight to enter the room.
