God Gave Me a Song
Arvis is the sixth of seven children. Since his parents felt that music was important in children's lives, each sibling was encouraged to play an instrument. As children, they were introduced to all types of music including country/western and classical, as well as gospel. At the age of 7, Arvis gave his life to the Lord and since that time, music has been his ministry--first as a singer and later as a musician and choir director. He was thrilled to be asked to play for his home church and stayed there for 12 years. In 1967, Arvis entered Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California, met and married a wonderful woman, Kathie, who shares his love and passion for gospel music and walks beside him in his ministry. In 1974, Arvis became the choir director of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sacramento and from 1980 to l989 was choir director at St. Rose Catholic Church in Roseville, California. He earned his BA in music from Cal State University, teaches music, and has a Master's Degree in Special Education.
"Gospel music is my life and ministry. I am still ministering the Word of God through music to anyone who will listen."
