| If
you consider ratings given out and support for the American Red Cross, the Schoolcraft
Open Tournament on Sept. 22 was a great success. If
you consider efficiency, afraid we fell short there. Due to a communication problem
on who was supposed to be running the tourney, no one was really in charge, but
those who stepped in did a great job on holding things together. Thanks to Mary
& Greg Gibbs, Amy and Patrick Webster, Virginia Stirnweis, Doug McLaren and
any others who helped out. Thanks
to our directors: Jim Vesper, Matt Dossman, Maestro Shapiro, and some directing
by Mike Cho and the "Epee guys". If I missed anyone, apologies, and
let me know! The
money raised was $2,036.00. After $230 taken out for expenses .... we had $1,806.00
to send to the American Red Cross! Mich Div. and Schoolcraft donated their profits,
and we thank all the fencers who donated to this cause. Tornament
started with a moment of silence and the singing of "God Bless America".
Starting times ran 30 minutes late, and we thank the Epee folks for hanging in
til their start time, over an hour late. Our next Schoolcraft Tourney on December
8th will be run more effieciently -- please join us again -- it was wonderful
to have so many fencers! Tina
