Board Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2002
The meeting was called to order by Debby Roberts, President.
The minutes from the meeting of October 7, 2002 were approved.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented.
Old Business
Committee Reports
Ways and Means
There are 15-20 Entertainment Books remaining from the book sale. A motion was
made and passed to continue to sell these books at upcoming events. Gross
proceeds from the Gift Wrap Sale was $16,417.69 with net profit of about $8000.
The delivery of the wrap is expected the week of November 18 with pick up times
to be determined. Gift wrap can still be purchased on line at Sallyfoster.com
until the end of the calendar year.
The committee is considering having a Beach Party Dance in January depending
upon the DJ’s availability.
Student Activities
The committee is looking into the possibility of having a Holiday Festival to replace
the Fall Festival which was cancelled.
Yearbook
The cover design will be made by Lynne Daly. The presale will begin soon and the
books will cost $15.75 during the presale and $19.75 after the New Year.
After School Enrichment
The After School Enrichment Program will begin January 27 and continue for six
weeks. There will be no Mini –class during December.
Historian
Newspaper articles for the School Scrapbook are requested.
Volunteers
Volunteers are needed during the morning drop-off time to help those children who
come to school by car and to assist with traffic flow.
French Exchange Program
SCES has been pre-matched with a school in Paris. Twenty seven 5th graders (14
boys and 13 girls) will come to SCES tentatively May 1-20. There will be a Parent
meeting on November 6 to discuss the exchange.
Membership
Teachers are still joining the PTA. Currently, 582 people have joined.
Programs
Storytelling Night will be on November 21 from 6:00-8:30 during the Book Fair.
Mrs. Sanborn will read to two different groups:K-2 and 3-5.
Hospitality
On November 14 there will be a breakfast for the teachers.

Room Parents
By November 11 a box will be placed in each class to hold donations of canned food
and school supplies for the Christmas Mother Project. In order to support the Carol
Deaton Project children will be expected to earn money and donate it.
New Business
Mr. Bechtel announced that Field Day was a success. He also noted that on November 7
there will be a meeting held at Woodlake United Methodist Church to discuss Middle
School suicides.
The next board meeting will be a Holiday Pot Luck dinner on December 2 at 7pm, the location to be determined.
