Huck Finn angered gordon because he felt that it was a racist book against the character Jim, who is a black slave in the story. He felt it was a waste of time to read a book like Huck Finn, that would affend some of the students in his class.
I don't agree him Gordon because Huck Finn is a part of our old history. Racism is not as big as it used to be back then. So reading a book like this one, shows how life used to be, and compares to how much our country has grown.

The teacher used a book that might be expected to upset some of the students because she knows how important it is from our history. She knows there is racism towards Jim and women, but she also knows that, thats how life used to be, but it is different now in the new world. So she thinks no one should get offended over our old history.
Yes, i agree with her motivation because its part of our old cultures and heritage, but its all changed now, into a world somewhat free of racism.

Freedom of speech is the write that every human being has, to say whatever they want at any time. Everyone has freedom of speech, because we are all equal beings. So therefore everyone has the right to say their opinion on whatever is on their mind.
4. What is censorship?
Censorship is the prevention of thoughts or feelings in a book, that some people find offending, or wrong. It is usually in a disguised form, like in the movie. When the principal has been telling the librarian to take books out of the library because he has gotten complaints about them, that is censorship because no one knew about the books being taken away.
5. Is the right to freedom of speech damaged by censoring one book? Explain.
I think the right to freedom of speech is damaged by censoring one book, because then all your freedom is crushed. Freedom of speech means saying or doing what u want. So if books are censored then, you do not have your freedom. Anyone should be allowed to read whatever he or she desires. The library should have whatever a person wants to read.
6. "Selective censorship" was a term used by the principal. Do you think such a
concept is possible and in keeping with the First Amendment? Explain why
or why not?
I think it is impossible to have Selective Censorship on one book, because every book probably has something that would offend someone in the world. The First Amendment states that everything is allowed, so its impossible to select a few things. It is ridiculous to cesor a book like Cinderella, because they say only God should hasf magical powers. It is a children story.
7. Barney and other students used the school paper to cover the issue. Do you
think they were fair? Explain.
I think it is fair because Barney and the other students signed up for the newspaper, if other students wanted a say in the topics they could join Journalism too. Anyone in the paper or not has freedom of speech, so i think it is fair.
8. Are all newspapers fair? Explain.
No, not all newspapers are fair, because reporters tend to change what people say, to make it more appealing to the public. It depends on what it is about.
9. What is the newspaper's responsibility in reporting an issue?
The responsibility of a newspaper is to keep you informed with what is going on in the world. They have no right to change anyone's thought or point of view. The reader has that right to decide for themself.
10. What did Barney and Gordon learn about themselves and each other? How
did it affect their relationship?
They learned that they have different opinions on certain subjects, which is freedom of speech. At the end they respected each others opinion, and it forced them to be closer then they were before, because they trusted eachother more than ever.
11. Is freedom of speech an issue about which teenagers should be concerned?
Explain.
jFreedom of speech is an issue teenagers should be concerned with because its something that shows we are not racist or discriminating over anyone. But not many teenagers are like that, but i am. I think we should all be concerned so we have a peaceful country.
