As i keep reading The Notebook it keeps getting more intense and climatic. Now that Allie is engaged to Lon she is having second thoughts reoccuring about Noah too. One day as she is looking at the newspaper she finds a picture  about an old house being restored in her old town. And of all people Noah had done it, just as he said he would do for her when they got married one day.
She was in disbelief that he had actually come through. This began to give her all of these mixed emotions in her love life. She wanted to ask herself questions over and over. Had she chosen the right man? Was Noah her true love at heart? Should she visit Noah back home? Is that appropriate now that I am engaged to Lon?
All of these were repeating nightmares coming and going in her mind. So one day she decides to go and visit him and see what he has been up to for these long years away from her. But of course she could not tell Lon what she was going to exactly be doing.
She finds herself at his doorstep and is beginning to think that this was a bad idea. It was only making her feelings for him come back out of the dust. But as soon as she saw his face she knew that she made the right choice. She spent a couple of days with him just catching up on old times, remembering how much she had loved him. But she knew now she could only be his friend, but a good friend if that.
But as she begins to spend more time with him, trouble seems to unwind. Allie is starting to feel how she did when they were dating that summer long ago. And now the climax begins to open.
