� Was made a literary legend of the 1920�s
� He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1896
� His father was a salesman who married an upper class woman
� Scott was a spoiled little boy who failed in all school work
� He was educated in the East coast, and was quickly overwhelmed by New York and Long Island Glamour
� He went to Princeton University in 1913
� He left college for officers� training(WWI)
� Was an army officer, who fell in love with a rich girl named Zelda Sayre
� She refused to marry him because he had no $$$
� He later published � This side of paradise,� and made money
� So Zelda later agreed to marry him in April
� They lived a ravish 20�s lifestyle
� Zelda was committed to a sanitarium, while Fitzgerald was a functional alcoholic
� �The Great Gatsby� was published in 1925, and it was nearly flawless
� The book gave him:
o Luxury and heedlessness
o New condemnation of a way in life
� After ten years of marriage, Zelda had a mental breakdown and thereafter she lived in and out of asylums
� She was inspired to dance and write(1932)
� He died in Hollywood in 1940 of heart failure
� When he died he was in the middle of his writing- The Last Tycoon
� After his death it was published by his close companion Edmund Wilson
