For my feautured artist of the month i chose  muralist, Rip Cronk. Rip Cronk is a well- known artist in Venice beach, who does a lot of modern artworks. Not only does Rip do murals, but he also does cartoons and grafitti works. He likes to take regular day scenes and make them seem realistic.

He graduated from the University of Mexico with a masters degree in fine arts. Shortly after he moved to Oahu, Hawaii and did a few murals, and then came back to the US. His first mural as an official muralist was the first painting on the top of this page. It was entitled Venice on the Half Shell. Cronk has painting almost 10 murals on the boardwalk alone.
So as you can see Rip Cronk was just a regualr guy, who worked himself up on the heirachy. By just doing murals on the side of buildings , he has given himself a name in Venice.
I like Rip Cronk's art because i think it is very realistic. It't no like normal art you find on pieces of paper. It has a 3D affect to it, that is very unique. I also like how a lot of his art has a very beach atmosphere. I love the beach, so any type oh his art, could very well be found in my house. His art makes me feel like i'm laid back, and easygoing as im looking at it, it almost makes me want to take a trip down to the beach in the middle of winter.
Venice Reconstituted, 1989, 21' x 100', acrylic on masonry, Windward at Speedway, Venice, CA.
This First mural is my favorite mural of all of his collection. I think it is very realistic, and very detailed.
Homage to a Starry Knight, 1990, 17' x 37', acrylic on masonry, Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA.
I also enjoy this mural because its very much like the original that Vincent Van Gogh did. It's very detailed when its enlarged, and i enjoy all the bright colors as well.
Wave Wall...Stylized, Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA
This mural is very cool, it looks like Rip was watching the ocean, and got an inspiration from the big blue ocean.
