| ~Was a preacher, philosopher, and poet ~He wrote many essays and lectures that brought out his style and personality ~Born on May 3rd, 1803 in boston ~His nickname was Waldo ~Was a student at both Boston Latin School and Harvard ~Followed his fathers dreams and was also a unitarian minister(1829) ~Was married to Ellen Tucker, she passed away after only 18 months of marriage ~He made new friendships and began to discover the transcendental faith ~He returned to America in 1834, where he became a lecturer ~His life began to crumble when his brother Edward and Charles deceased ~He was remarried to a women named Lydia ~He settled down in Concord, MA, and later had four children ~In 1836, Emerson published his first major essay entitled NATURE ~Emerson based all his writings on the harmonies of man and nature ~was an abolitionist ~supporter for educational reform ~crusader for peace ~Leaves of Grass made the writer stand out in American Poetry ~Between 1842 and 1844 two of Emerson's children had passed away ~he faced more difficulties when his mother, aunt, two brothers, and comrade thoreau passed ~in 1872, the home him and his wife lived in burned down ~This led him to a series od depression ~he published his final papers Parnassus , and Letters and Social Aims ~Emerson died on April 27th, 1882 of an pneumonia ~His little new england town mourned for years after his death |
