What is HorseShare?

HorseShare is an innovative way of allowing more people to enjoy the pleasures associated with horse ownership.

The idea of sharing a horse is nothing new, but we at South Causey Equestrian Centre have seen first hand, the problems that can arise when private co-ownership's develop into disputes.

It is an arrangement between two or more people to share the experience of owning a horse. This includes exercising, care, health and cost.

What happens if my circumstances change and I can no longer participate in HorseShare?

All that is needed is one months written notice to terminate your HorseShare contract.

What happens if my HorseShare horse falls ill?

It is necessary for all Share Holders to take out insurance to cover such circumstances. The HorseShare Customer Care Officer will be happy to advise you.

How is my HorseShare Horse looked after?

All HorseShare horses are regarded as full liveries and as such are entitled to the same services as every other full livery horse.

What about equipment?

The HorseShare horse is provided equipped with a basic saddle, bridle, and rug. It is up to the share holder to provide all other equipment.

Are there extra costs?

It is necessary to insure the horse through the centres Insurance company and we strongly advise that you take out personal accident insurance. The only extra cost is shoeing which is the responsibility of the share holders.

However we strongly recommend that all riders take the BHS Riding and Road Safety Test before hacking out. This test is compulsory for all riders under the age of 18 who intent to hack out alone.
