 :: Mini Sports Festival Speech::

Hello my name is Rajveender Ramjit. I'm currently waiting for my SPM results & believe me when I say I'm very fortunate to be involve not only in this festival but also in the Dreams + Teams training week I jumped at the chance. It was an oppurtunity I just couldn't miss. I joined the D+T in March 2003 and a month later helped to organised our first mini sport festival. From that moment on there was no looking back-in Ms. Surilla's own words, there no turning back we can only move forward. And there I am today working for my Gold Award. Words can not express how I'm feeling at this moment.

Many may say that D+T is just like any other leadership training. But to us, the Young Leaders it is definitely something more. It is both unique and challenging. The only Leadership Programme where you are required to plan, organise and finally run a sports festival in the span of 2 days. I believe that all the 50 new Young Leaders from the 4 schools plus 9 other Young Leaders have been challenged in more ways than one. An expereince they will remember and cherish for always.

As a Senior Young Leader, in these few days alone I have seen how young boy overcome his fear of public speaking and today he is one of our team Leaders. And that ladies and gentlement is indeed a wonderful thing. There are many sucess stories I can tell you that happened throuhout the training week but just gaze at the faces of the Young Leaders and it is evident enough.

However, this would not have happened if not because of other and so I would like to take this opportunity to say my thank you's to a few important people. First and for most to Yg Bhg Pn Normah Gagoh for taking time from her busy schedule to be with us today. To Youth Sport Trust and the British Council Malaysia our main sponsors, and Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Sabah, we are truly indebted to you. To the four principals of the link schools, for believing in us and selecting us to be apart of the D+T international family. Once again thankyou and we will try to live up to your expectations. To our link teachers, we know that we still have a long way to go but together we will achieve our goals. On behalf of the organizing committee we would also like to say thank you to the Pincipal, Staff and Students of SMK Likas for their kind assistance and for allowing us to hold this festival here. To our prents for their continued support and love. To our totors Janet, Coach Gerard, Coach Sudirman and Ms. Surilla. It has indeed been an learning journey, one we would never forget and finally to my fellow team mates-We did it guys! Two thumbs up to all of you. I'm definitely looking forward to our next festival in April.

To the 300 participants we hope that you have enjoyed yourself and that you will too be given the opportunity to be a D+T young leader. Just like Sean Soo, one of our new Young Leader who once was a participant in our mini sports fesival. Congratulations to all the winners and we hope to see you in our next festival.

Finally, to everyone for coming and making this festival memorable. Thank You.

Rajveender Ramjit, Senior Young Leader
