Over 4 million years ago ... on a metallic planet far, far away ...

They were more than meets the eye.  They were giant "transformers," two warring armies, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, waging war for millions of years. The Decepticons were capable of transforming into military vehicles and large weapons.  The Autobots were a mix of transport or service craft and military vehicles.

The two sides battled for control of Cybertron and its energy - energy both sides needed so desperately to survive.  The planet-wide war, ironically, drained the planet of energy at an increased rate.
