Last reported as granted a 30-day medical furlough at Jackson Hospital, Richmond, VA, 21 Jun 1864. Ann C. UNGER of Saluda, SC, applied for a Confederate pension based on his service, 2 Apr 1919. UNGER, John J. (1844-1864) 18 14/C 5/F CPL PVT Lexington b. 1844, Lexington Dist., SC. Enlisted at Lexington C.H., SC, 18 Dec 1861, and appt. CPL. Reduced to PVT, 13 May 1862. WIA at Trevilian Station, VA, 12 Jun 1864, resulting in amputation of leg. DOW at General Hospital, Gordonsville, VA, 25 Jul 1864. UNGER, Patrick D. (1835-1862) 27 14/C PVT Lexington b. 1835, Lexington Dist., SC. Enlisted at Lexington C.H., SC, 18 Dec 1861. DOD at home, 23 Mar 1862. Cenotaph at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Lexington Co., SC, states that his grave lies beneath the waters of Lake Murray. UTSEY (EUTSEY), [G. C.] 1MM/J [PVT] Performed sentry duty with the company during the period 11 Nov-Dec 1861, but no other record of service found. Apparently detached from Oswald's Co., 1st (Martin's) SC Mounted Militia, and later served in Co. G, 4th SC Cavalry.
