Literay Devices and Techniques
Character- the individuals who take part in the action of the story
Main character- the most important characters
Minor character- less prominent characters
Dynamic character- characters that undergo change as the plot unfolds
Static character- characters who remain the same
Setting- where the events of the story occur in a particular time and place
Plot- chain of related events that take place in the story
Exposition- provides the reader with background information
Inciting incident- the event that starts the story
Rising incident- complications that arise and cause difficulties to the main character
Climax- the turning point of the action where the intensity is at its peak
Falling action- events that occur after the climax where the conflict is resolved and the intensity subsides
Denouement- the tangles of the plot are untied and the mystery is resolved
Theme- an important idea or message conveyed by a work of fiction
