The act began with Tonami seeing Arima at school but Arima totally ignored his existence and passed him by. Tonami remembered the days when he was in middle school. Arima was very friendly with him and the classmates wouldn't bully Tonami because Arima was there.
Tonami then though, "Sorry. I didn't know just how important Miyazawa is to you."
He began to analyse Arima's changed behaviors. He wondered which one was the real Arima; then or now. When it came to anything about Miyazawa, Arima couldn't seem to control or surpress his emotions. His reactionary feelings and hostility turned toward all who would come between him and Miyazawa. Tonami wondered, "Is this what people do when they're in love? I want to know the real Arima and be friends with the real him".
In the student resources room alone, Miyazawa hugged Arima from behind and said, "we haven't been close lately because we're so busy. Let's get all over each other again when the culture fest is over".
Arima blushed and said, "but then at times we might have inappropriate feelings".
Miyazawa thought, "We have crossed that line but Arima remains so pure".
Arima asked if she wanted to be with him, Miyazawa said yes. But at that moment Miyazawa saw a different Arima almost as if he was a stranger. Arima asked if that scared her but her responce was no.
In Arima's thoughts, "Please don't leave me. Day by day, I'm falling apart. Falling into the dark side. How can I say such a thing? That I want to own you all to myself. I love how free you are. But on the other hand, I want to take you away from everything... I don't want her to know that I have such feelings".
During lunch time, Maho asked Miyazawa why she now decided to do the play. Miyazawa said that she wanted to do something fun other than studying. She's been centering her life on studying and Arima. But Arima's in Kendo and his world is so much deeper than hers. She wanted to create a world of her own. She felt that Arima tend to shoulder all the problems by himself. She didn't want to rely on him so much. Maho said, "that's why Arima fell for you out of all the other girls".
Tonami saw Sakura talking to Asaba in the hallway. After they parted, Tonami went up to her and yelled, "Fool!". Tonami was irritated. He thought Sakura was never the kind of girl who would laugh with other guys and he remembered that they kissed yesterday. He freaked out thinking if he liked guys because he fell for Sakura and she was the ultimate tomboy. They were going up the stares and a butterfly flew by Sakura's face. She fell backwards into Tonami's arms. Tonami was surprised that she was so light and her arms were so thin. In his memories, Sakura had always been the strong bully type. He realized that if he trained, he'd be strong and easily go beyond Sakura. Her make of body was different anyway. He pushed her away and left. He came to realize that when they were young there weren't any sense of gender between them. Therefore he hadn't been able to name his feelings towards Sakura. It was actually very simple.
"Why did I become so deeply hurt about Sakura thinking nothing of me? Why did I want Sakura to notice me so much? Why am I unhappy when she's with another guy? That's because... I love her. All this time, these feelings in my heart that had nowhere to go have found their outlets. I just want you to know I'm here, a person called me".
Act 34, 14 Days: The person I love
Miyazawa and her girlfriends were chatting in the classroom about their bust sizes. Sakura said she's flat-chested (and not embarrassed about it).
The girls said, "Sakura you have the best body out of all of us. You're tall, pale and pretty. If only you weren't a tomboy... don't just hang around with the girls. Do you have a guy you like?" Sakura just smiled.
Maho got a call from her dentist boyfriend. She wanted to withdraw from the play again because he will be coming to see her perform. Aya said everyone will perform no matter what or else they'll suffer.
Then the girls asked Tsubasa about her new step brother. She suddenly jumped out of the window. Kazuma was passing by down there and caught her. The girls met Kazuma the first time. At the same time Arima and Asaba passed by and saw Kazuma being so close to Tsubasa. Miyazawa got nervous for a second because she worried how would Arima react since he treated Tsubasa as his sister. But Arima and Kuzuma smiled to each other. There was some kind of friendly atmosphere around these two.
In the hallway, Arima asked Asaba if he had a girlfriend.
He said, "I have a lot of pretty girls to choose from. I just can't pick one. But there's only one guy I like..." He was joking again to Arima.
He went on saying, "it's not true love when you can just hook up with any girls. I want to find that special someone. I feel she's somewhere out there. I want to give my all to her. That's why I've been waiting. But until then I'm going to cruise around".
Tonami saw Sakura talking to her friends in the hall, sitting down with her legs wide opened. He went up and kicked her leg, "close your legs!". Sakura then stood up and showed him that she was wearing shorts under her skirt.
In Tonami's thoughts, "Now everything makes sense. I've loved Sakura all along. Every time I go to a new school I find the biggest tree and climb on it to see the view. I didn't know why I did that but now I get it. Sakura used to do that. She's so carefree. Money, time and rules won't have her bound. The only things that will affect her are the weather, moods and beautiful things. Falling in love with such kind of person must be a lot of trouble. If I fell for a strong girl like her I'd never like other normal girls again. But I won't give up. I've always been so pampered by my family. I never thought I lack anything until that day when I asked Sakura why she hung around me. She said she was asked to do so by the teacher. From that moment I realized, I was only loved by my family. Nobody else cares for me. Sakura made me realized that I was "lonely". At first I wanted a revenge. Wanting to meet Sakura again was the power that pushed me to go on. Sakura... I feel that when you realized I've changed then I won't be lonely again".
Act 35, 14 Days: 31*C
"Ah... what a hot day." Sakura and Tonami were drinking soda in a quiet corner at school.
Tonami thought, "How long is this waiting... I want her to think that I'm special. I want to be the only one who can capture her wild heart".
Sakura kissed him.
Tonami: "Why... why did you kiss me?"
Sakura: "Because I wanted to."
Tonami: "Because you wanted to? So you can do this to anybody if you wanted to?"
Sakura: "Who would kiss somebody ramdomly?! I don't do that to anybody. It's dirty! We kissed before and it wasn't bad. I feel that it's nothing serious... don't you think so?"
Tonami: "Could it be... you like me?"
Sakura: "yes."
Tonami: "Do you know what's "like"? It's not just kissing a friend..."
Sakura: "I know! I'm happy when I'm with you and I think you're a nice person. Besides... how can I not like a guy like you?"
Tonami gave her a hug, "I like you too... Sakura."
He thought, "I've been in her heart all along. This is the first time I touched her shoulder. She's even thinner than I'd imagined. But it's enough to ease my pain all this time. I can finally... leave my past behind. Someday I'll tell her I'm the Tonami from middle school."
Tonami saw Arima yet again in the hallway. He told Arima that he had someone on his mind now and he never intended to be close with Miyazawa. "I'm sorry. I won't do that again. I see you as a friend so I'll wait for your forgiveness..." Arima just passed him by.
Miyazawa, Maho and Tsubasa were trying on their costumes for the play. Everyone said they looked great.
Sunset. Arima came into the classroom seeing Miyazawa napping alone. Looking at her sleeping face Arima thought, "What more do I want other than you."
Miyazawa woke up. She said to Arima that she had a lot of work to do after school. When she asked about the Kendo club was going to do for the culture fest, Arima said that they would be baking cakes and cookies.
Miyazawa said that she learned a lot by doing the play such as studying wasn't everything. "I want to discover my talents and strengths then I will like myself more. So that you will like me even more."
Arima froze there for a second. He thought, "Why... why... she loves me that much but how come I'm still not happy? The more she loves me the uglier my heart becomes..."
Arima: "More? But I love you really really much already."
Miyazawa smiled, "It's not enough. We'll grow together and be more mature."
They kissed.
In Arima's thoughts, "May your brightness shines upon me and not let me swallowed by the darkness."
Act 36, 14 Days: Tornato
*Note: Although this chapter is titled "tornato", it was really a "typhoon" that went on or "huricane" as this side of the world called it. Hey... it's basic geology you guys have known it right?
There was a typhoon going on during the preparation of the culture fest. Students around the school were busy running around doing their tasks. Tonami met Arima in the hall once again. He tried to say hello but again Arima just passed him by.
Tonami thought, "Why is Miyazawa so special to him? To me she's just a very ordinary girl."
Miyazawa showed up next to Tonami holding a box of junk, "Hi Tonami. Man I got wet from the rain... everyone is so busy now."
Tonami freaked out when he saw her, "Don't come any closer! Please stay away from me!"
Arima came back. When Tonami saw him he almost went crying while Miyazawa was being clueless of what's going on. Arima looked at him and sighed.
Arima gently wiped MIyazawa's wet head with a handkerchief, "You go ahead and change your clothes. Give the stuff to Tonami, he'll help you. Is that alright with you, Tonami?"
Tonami blushed seeing Arima's smile to him in the a long time. He was more than happy to help Miyazawa.
Tonami thought, "There must be a reason why Arima only likes Miyazawa... just like Sakura is the only one for me."
Tonami was running around looking for Sakura but he couldn't find her anywhere. At last he found her napping in the library.
Tonami: "Why do you keep moving around? I've been looking for you. Why is it so hard to just have a moment with you?"
Sakura said it was her habit because she couldn't stay in one place for too long. Tonami said that they were seeing each other now but she wasn't playing her role.
Sakura was indifferent about it, "It's enough as long as we like each other. I hate to be bounded. I thought you understood but it's okay if you don't."
Tonami couldn't figure out what she meant by that.
By this time the typhoon had become quite violent. Students were asked to return home. Arima insisted on walking Miyazawa home. Miyazawa asked if he's not very good at being around girls because previously Arima was offered some snack by girls and he wasn't acting very comfortable.
Arima: "Yeah... a little bit."
Miyazawa smiled: "But you act so natural around me!"
Arima: "Because you don't really have a sense of gender differences..."
Miyazawa didn't understand his words.
When they got to Miyazawa's house, Arima was asked by Miyazawa's mother to take a hot bath. The family liked Arima a lot but Miyazawa wasn't too happy about that. Arima looked at Miyazawa's mother and thought they looked so much alike as if the future Miyazawa was sitting in front of him. After taking a bath he was asked to join for dinner. Miyazawa's father got home from work and was happy to see Arima he asked him to stay for the night. They slept in the living room which the father had called it the "boy's room". He asked Arima if he was adopted.
Miyazawa's father: "I was left behind as well. But don't worry. You'll find happiness because Yukino is by your side. You will find happiness for sure."
Arima thought, "Staying in here feels as if I'm in a warm bath. This house is filled with the scent of Miyazawa. As long as she is here, "he" (referring to his dark side) cannot take my heart away. That night, although there was a violent typhoon outside, I slept very well without having any bad dreams".
