Asad was was one of the treasured few warriors trained at birth to protect the leaders of the Bakluni. He soon became a powerful warrior, letting the strength of the dark lady guide his blade to defend his charges. In the early years of his third decade, he traveled with a Baklunish princess to a symbolic peace meeting in Greyhawk. All was not well, though. In the middle of his first night in the capital city, an assassin snuck into the room and slew the princess as she slept. Asad woke and found the assassin attempting to leave the room. He quickly wove the dark lady's magic into his blade, and split the intruder in two. as the assassin fell in death, it turned to dust, leaving but a small black jewel resting on the floor. The rest of the guards then arrived, and found only Asad with an outstretched blade. He was accused of the princess's death, and sentenced to death. Soon after, a letter arrived from a radical Suel group claiming responsibility for the killing, proving Asad innocent. But to show strength as a nation, the Bakluni set Asad free in the dark of night, not admitting thier failure. He now works as a mercenary bodyguard, protecting anyone who will pay the price...

Asad wishes only to regain his honor, and again work at protecting the Bakluni family. Asad usually is a quiet person, speaking only when need be, projecting an image of stability. Asad barely sleeps, and almost never at night. Having lost one charge, he has no wish to do it again. He harbors an ancestral hatred for Suel, but also hopes for peace between the two races, so that his people would not have to hide behind endless guards, or defensive magics while traveling in suel lands.

Asad initially stands out because of his deep brown skin and bald head. Around most of his torso is a long studded leather vest, inlaid with small lines of gold. At his belt is a wide, curved sword with a golden hilt. His belt is little more than a silken rope, and his pants are made of loose, lightweight cloth. He carries a beautiful spear like a walking stick. At his side is a leather bag, which he carries carefully. there are a couple of vials attached to his vest, and around his neck is a tarnished silver charm in the shape of a lotus. His steed is tall and fast, with jet black hair.
