Compacts
Woman didn't apply face powder in public until after World War I.
At first Face powder was sold in boxes for home use. By the 1920's cosmetics became acceptable
Cosmetic companies began to market face powder in attractive metal and plastic cases.
Jewelers began to design Compacts (and Cigarette cases) in silver and gold.

Practically every major European porcelain maker in the first half of the century made decorated
bisque half dolls, commonly known as pincushion doll. Not really a doll nor pin cushion. There are small
sew holes at the waist, generally sewn on to fabric pincushions or to a voluminus skirt used to cover a pot
of hot tea, whisk broom, a powder or candy box, this one was used as a lamp. The majority seem to be
German, many unmarked, dating from the early 1900's.
The most desirable features to collectors in the Half Dolls are that the arms are molded away from the
body also included in this category are molded curls, jointed arms, bald heads, molded flowers, Holding
fans, mirrors, or anything else.
Made until the 1950's a great many after 1925 were made in Japan, but are generally of a lesser quality
