Haunted Eyes
hollow beating of my heart
wakes the sleeping night
truth hidden behind a mask
all are blind to hidden lies
I bear this burden of blood
my attempt at salvation
frozen out of fear
my strength to fight died
with my spirit's freedom
I see through
haunted eyes
empty from days frozen in darkness
I bear the burden of love lost
alone in the forest of despair
thoguhts of nothing haunt me
and hold me in this cage
of life and death
freedom and slavery
smoke floating through chaos
passing through the folds of fear
dreams of faith in the unknown
searching for answers
to make the face shown
dark of night
starts shine light
of distant suns
burning bright
for other souls
tofuel their fights
while I lie down
too tired to die
ghosts of my past
haunting my present
screaming for redemption
heaven sent
give me my lost salvation
hold me up
help me stand
save me from
my immortal past
my immortal fears
to never return
allow me to live
and my fire to burn
This poem was written while I was sitting on the back porch of my house, listening to Evanescence.  I also used word association to get the words together.
