The chorus' small group performed at the Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts opening ceremony last night. It went exceptionally well, and it was supposed to be televised on some local channel. Unfortunately I have no idea what channel, and if I did happen to run across the right channel, it wasn't on. Oh well, at least we sounded nice.

Too bad the rest of our chorus sounded as great as us. We have a concert on Tuesday night. It's going to be pretty messy, considering we've only had eight rehearsals to learn all the new music. We'll be singing jazz-flavored stuff, and it kills me that most of the group sings it like it's church music. It's like, have some fun people! This music is like playing, not plodding along. It moves, sways, bounces, syncopates... get caught up in it and enjoy.

Oh, and one of my solos got yanked because we (the small group) just didn't have enough time to learn it. It kind of pisses me off because it got yanked by no fault of my own, but oh well. I was kind of 'compensated' by being asked to sing the first part of "All That Jazz" with a really small group. (Actually, it should have just been me and Debbie, but someone had to go and say that it wouldn't be enough, so 2 more girls got dropped into the mix. Grrr.) That song will be entertaining because we actually get to dance to it. Well, kind of dance, since I was told to take it easy on the shimmies and shakes. Lol. At least I have my other solo - where I've been told that it sounds like I should be singing on top of a piano in a slinky dress a la Michelle Pheiffer. Well GOOD, that's how it's supposed to sound! In any case, it'll be a fun way to end the semester.

My kid brother is trying to decide on what college to go to. He, like many many other kiddos, doesn't really know what he wants to do, making it kind of hard which university to choose. No matter what school he chooses, though, it'll be no closer than 4 hours, which is good for him. He (like most people) has to get away from the nest and spread his wings. Heh. In other words, get the hell out of this area and have some fun. He's the baby of the family who was babied too much, so it's time the cord was really cut. But first he has to choose which school. And he'd better choose fast, since the deadline is in 4 days.

So my 19-year-old is very hot-cold, and it's kind of annoying, so he's fired. The 20-year-old-future-husband is definitely fired, too. I entirely neglected the 28-year-old, which is fine since he found a new woman anyways. (Too bad, since he was a nice looking and good guy who was "taken aback" by me, but there was no "WOW.") A 24-year-old (who I thought was, like, 18) was all about me yesterday, which was truly bizarre and kind of enticing. I think there were some random dudes trying to talk to me at the bar while I was watching the basketball game, but I was a bit preoccupied watching the game so I didn't pay them much mind. BUT, boys are stupid in general. So are most men. There are only a few good ones, and even sometimes they don't quite mesh with your personality. For shame. Therefore I quit. Lol. Life will officially be blissfully uneventful again. Yay!

Oh, and strawberries are good. Mmmmm.
