Happy 28th Birthday to my big brother!

Let's hope that this whole sniper thing is done. The whole thing is rather anti-climactic. Weeks of shootings, looking over my shoulder, dragnets, and nonstop news... And it ended with apprehending the guys while they were sleeping? No struggles, no shoot out. We didn't even get a high-speed car chase. The DC area never gets any of those! (Of course, our traffic doesn't exactly permit it - Minor details.) Now how is Hollywood going to make a movie out of that?! Hehe well that's just too bad for them.... I'm perfectly happy that this all seems to be over with.

I went to Canada last weekend to visit Angela. It was relatively fun, despite the fact that I was surrounded by Canadians. Lol. Oh, and since I was in Quebec, there was all this French stuff... I couldn't understand a word! In fact, Angela had to order my maple syrup donut in French from Dunkin Donuts (
Krispy Kreme is SO much better) because they didn't know what "maple syrup" meant. *shakes head* Oh, and Holy Smurf Day celebrations were postponed one day to the 19th, but that was actually better because I had more fun that night.

I had to
fly into Burlington, though, and Angela picked me up and dropped me off there. That town is the most DELIGHTFUL college town I've seen! I'd never really had any interest in the University of Vermont, but just seeing their town, I'd have gone just for that. It's like a bigger, more progressive Ithaca that still had plenty of small town charm. While my school's campus is actually far prettier, UVM's town just knocks ours out of the water. Of course, we also have that other school on the east hill, which helps... but right now I'm only talking about the town.  Their downtown appeared 5 times bigger than The Commons. It was longer, wider, cleaner and had actual stores like Banana Republic, Starbucks, and Ann Taylor (on top of a few local stores). And that's just part of what their downtown has to offer... there are plenty of little shops and restaurants for blocks around to explore. Their town lies on the shore of the beautiful Lake Champlain, complete with their equivalent of the Lochness monster. And in the distance are snow-capped mountains on fire with the changing leaves. I now understand why some consider New England's autumns to be so spectacular. I'd totally go back to visit! It's so quaint, but I didn't feel cut off from the outside world. Aww, I miss it already! Hehe.
