Link me. That's an order.
Bet no one else has noticed these...
Similarities between Moulin Rouge and Velvet Goldmine (MAJOR spoilers if you haven't seen either film)
~ Ewan McGregor. I'll start by stating the obvious.
~ Fantasy and dream sequences.
~ Both can be called musicals, only in MR people burst into song for no apparent reason, while in VG it all, more sensibly, happens in music video scenes.
~ In both, a love interest of Ewan McGregor's character is shown dying on stage.
~ The main actors do their own singing.
~ Some other actors are singers and musicians in real life.
~ Covers of old songs that are better than the originals (Beck's 'Diamond Dogs' in MR, Placebo's '20th Century Boy' in VG).
~ Both great films to watch while high, I've been told.
~ Both start at the end of the story, then go back to the beginning, in character flashbacks.
Looky here for a fitting tribute.
