During the Ching
Dynasty, there was a respected royal family. The
General had always wanted a son to inherit his wealth
and title. Soon his dream came true when his
wife was pregnant and at the same time, he falls in love with a beautiful dancer and decided to
makes her his life partner.
But as fate would have
it, the wife gave birth to a baby girl. Fearing
the possibility that she might lose her position in
the family and also because the
lady that the General just married got pregnant, the
wife has not choice but
to switch her baby girl with a baby boy from a common
poor family. She tattoed a plum flower
mark on the child's shoulder so that she could
recognise her if she ever sees her again.
Her faithful servant
then carried the baby, ran as far as she could and
left the child at a deserted place. A couple
passed by and saved her. The baby was named Yin
Shuang while the faked royal son called Hao
Chen. In the next twenty years, Yin Shuang lead
a poverty life and follows the couple performed and
sang on the street. By chance, Yin Shuang met Hao Chen
and they fell in love at first sight.
Unfortunately Hao Chen has a pre-fixed marriage to a
princess, the Emperor's most adored child.
Hao Chen then arranged
for Yin Shuang to enter as a servant to his house so
they may meet each other more often. The
presence of Yin Shuang has caused many problems and
evoked suspicions from the princess.
The truth was later
revealed that she was the child to the General and Hao
Chen was ordered to be beheaded when the scandals were
made known to the Emperor. The Princess begged
the Emperor to set him free and Hao Chen ran home but
found nothing but tears. Yin Shuang hung herself
as she has made a vow for an everlasting love.
Hao Chen carried her body into a forest and never
returns.
