| I made this ruffly pink dress for a little girl (Theresa) that I know. (It was a thank you present for helping her dad watch my cats while we were away on vacation.) She's very young and so I figured she would play with this doll, and not just put it on a shelf. I wanted to make her something special, yet durable. The pattern is called "Party Dress" and it is from the April/May 2000 issue of "Annie's Crochet To Go!" magazine. The pattern called for sport weight yarn, but I had this cone of thinner stuff (it is like #10 thread - I think it is machine knitting yarn) and so I doubled it and it came out to the same size. It was supposed to be decorated with ribbon roses scattered on the dress, but I really didn't like how that looked so instead I only used one rose at the neckline and a ribbon around the waist. This doll was also a customizing experiment since she has the first set of rooted eyelashes I have ever done, and a partial facial repaint (also a first). | |
