Liberty Belle

I collect holiday dolls and use them in my decorating. I decided to create Liberty Belle when I realized that I didn't have any dolls for the patriotic holidays. She is wearing a crocheted costume that I based on the Independence Angel pattern from Annie's Attic (#870818, 1998). The original pattern makes a costume that is sort of a strange hybrid between an angel and the Statue of Liberty. That wasn't my cup of tea so I removed the angel parts and also made some significant changes to the gown. The biggest change was the beading I did to the bodice. The pattern didn't have any beading at all. I used little silver star sequins, each topped with a silver-lined rocaille bead. Her dress is decorated with silver ribbon, and her jewelry is made of a mix of glass beads. Her red shoes are decorated with blue glitter at the toes and silver ribbon.

Liberty Belle features a full facial repaint (the third one I have ever done), including tri-tone blue eyes with silver-gray eyeshadow and liner. Her lips have been repainted to match her ensemble and she has been given a manicure and a hint of blush to match her lips. Her new eyebrows and rooted eyelashes are brown. Red and blue streaks have been rooted into her blonde hair before she received her new hairstyle. The doll originally had palm to rear arms, but they have been reshaped, and one hand was also reshaped so that she can wave her flag.

The doll I used is a blonde Superstar Barbie that I haven't been able to identify.

These pictures were taken in my herb garden since the chives are the only things blooming here today. :)
