Dreamgirl in Turquoise: Dottie

Dottie is the second in my Dreamgirls series. She features a full facial repaint including turquoise blue eyes and a hint of blush, and rooted eyelashes. She is also the first doll I have created with molded hair. She's a good example of how ideas change after you start a project. I chose the base doll in large part for her long, pretty platinum blonde hair, but as I went along she told me she'd rather have short, black hair! Her costume and accessories were crocheted using vintage turquoise perle cotton thread. Both arms were slightly reshaped, and one hand was remodeled so that she could more easily hold her fan. Her fan, bodice, and rear end feature hand sewn silver sequins and turquoise glass rocaille beads, and her jewelry is a combination of a variety of Czech and other glass beads.

I made this doll for my dear friend Dottie. I hope she likes her!

This doll was formerly a platinum blonde Superstar Barbie (I don't know which one exactly) with very bright pastel face paint.
