     J. L. JENCKES, physician and surgeon, Hazel Green; born in Rhode Island
in 1816; came to Wisconsin in 1848, and settled in Oshkosh, and engaged in the 
practice of medicine; in 1852, he removed to this village, and has been here since; 
he received his medical education at Pittsfield, Mass., and Providence, R. I. Married 
Eleanor J. SMITH, a daughter of Rev. Hugh SMITH, D. D., of New York City; 
they have four children---Hugh Lawrence, Daniel B., Eleanor Lawrence and Jessie.  Are
members of the Episcopal Church.
