THE FAULL FAMILY

     FAULL---Among the Cornish families who settled in Grant County, WI, to find freedom of 
religion and explore the lead mines were the FAULL family.  Richard FAULL, a mine captain, 
born at the parish of Crowan, Cornwall, Eng., May 15, 1814 to Richard and Mary 
(nee INGRAM) FAULL.  Married  Feb. 2, 1839, Crowan, Cornwall, Eng., to 
Elizabeth Ann ROGERS,   They had six children--Mary, christened Aug. 9, 1840, 
she married Thomas M. JEWELL, son of John C. and Ann JEWELL, he was killed in 
the civil war 1863 Chickamauga, GA, She re-married to Henry H. BEEMAN, 
son of Uriah and Hannah BEEMAN of Canada, they had one child--Uriah 
William BEEMAN, born Jan. 7, 1867, Mary died Mar. 25, 1869, Muscalunge, Grant County, 
WI; Elizabeth (Lizzie A. ) Ann FAULL, born Nov. 7, 1842, Pennsylvania, married John Lewis 
CROW, born Jan. 1, 1847, Grant Co., he was the son of Lewis CROW Jr. and Mehitable 
HOGLE, they had three children--Mary, Alice and Vernon.  Lizzie passed away Feb. 24, 1905 at 
the home of her daughter, Mary GILL in Merrill, Plymouth County, Iowa.  John Lewis CROW 
later remarried Jan., 1, 1906 to Esther (McCloud) FAULL, LeMars, Plymouth Co., IA;  Richard, 
born Jan. 6, 1846, Cornwall, Eng., married May 8, 1870 to Esther McCLOUD, born Oct. 2, 
1855, Grant Co., daughter of William Seber McCLOUD and Mary (nee HOLEMAN)
McCLOUD.  They had six children, five of which survived to adult hood--William R., born 
--Mary E., born 1872, IA, married George LIAS --Nettie R., born March 7, 1876, married 
March 7, 1892 to Newton JEFFERS, son of Isaac Newton and Almira (nee SCOTT) JEFFERS
--Seber Cecile, born March 8, 1874, IA, passed away, July 23, 1890, from diabetes, at the young 
age of 16. Richard FAULL died from valvular disease of the heart, complication:  dropsy and is
buried at Plymouth Presbyterian Cemetery, Plymouth Co., IA.; William (Wm. or “Billy”)
FAULL, born Sept. 19, 1847, Grant Co., married Dec. 29, 1875 to Mary J. KINNEY, born, 
April 4, 1847, daughter of R. J. and Lucinda (nee Cook) PHILLIPS KINNEY, they had one 
foster daughter and granddaughter, Josephine (Mary) GRAAP and Norrine GRAAP of Oregon. 
William and Mary settled in Polk County, Oregon by 1881 and eventually, Wm. owned his own
hardware store in Dallas, Polk Co., he passed away 1927, and was Interred MT. Scott Cemetery,
Portland.; Emily J., born about 1850, Grant Co., married James PRITCHARD, born July 1855, a
native of Cornwall, naturalized 1867, they had the following children--Mabel, Olive, Thomas
and Joseph, James passed away 1923 and Emily passed away, 1931, Plymouth Co., IA; Thomas,
born Jan. 2, 1852, he was only 23 when he passed away Oct. 19, 1875.  Richard and Elizabeth
(ROGERS) FAULL first immigrated from England through the port of Falmouth Mar. 21, 1840
arriving in Pennsylvania,  and back to England by 1843.  After the birth of Richard in 1846, the
family returned to the states, crossing the Atlantic Ocean three times to finally settle  at
Muscalunge near Hazel Green in Grant Co.  Richard decided to try his fortune at gold in
California and departed from New York in 1851.  Headed to San Francisco, he only made it just
past Panama, he died from a severe fever and is buried in the Pacific Ocean.  His sudden death
left his family behind in Grant Co.  Elizabeth raised her children in Grant Co., she was a
seamstress.   In May of 1871, Elizabeth moved to LeMars, Plymouth County, Iowa to be closer
to her children.  In 1880, she was a housekeeper and living in the home of Louis FOLEY of
Pennsylvania and his wife Margaret of Canada, just two doors down from her son Wm.  and
three doors down from her son Richard.  Elizabeth ROGERS FAULL died 19 Nov 1893, leaving
behind three children, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild to mourn her death.
