Joel Cramer 1824 to 1911 Joel Cramer was born in Wayne County, Pennsylvania in 1824. Nothing is known of his parents. By 1850 Mr. Cramer was working as a coach maker with Aaron Haycock in Henry County, Indiana. On May 19, 1850 he married Hannah Thayer, born in Pennsylvania. Their children were Josephine, born abt. 1852, Milton born 1854, James born 1855, Hannah, born 1856 and Ruth born 1860. Joel and Hannah and family moved between Pennsylvania, Indiana and Iowa, finally settling in Wingville, Grant County, Wisconsin about 1855. He worked as a wagon maker in Wingville till he moved his business to the North side of Boscobel. Hannah died about 1860 and Joel married Elizabeth Allison of Wingville in 1862. Elizabeth was born in Kentucky. Their children were Henry E., who married Wilda Pratt, Frank who never married and Ara Ella who married Robert T. Gamble. Mr. Cramer was an early member and trustee of the Methodist Episcopal Church formed in 1855. He was a charter member of the First Lodge of Mason's, #101.
