News from Down Under
by Jacqui Simmons
I know I have missed a couple of newsletters but such a lot has happened.  Sydney has been hit by a bout of dry hot weather for months with only a slight light shower in my area.  Consequently the lawns are all brown and crunchy to walk on and most of the plants are dead.  It never seems to stop the weeds from growing through.  We have been on water restrictions since last Winter and have to be very careful as there are heavy fines if anyone catches you washing the car or filling up the pool etc.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year.  I wonder if any of you have managed to keep your New Year Resolutions.  I don't make them any more as I never seem to be able to get past January without breaking them.  On a crochet note, I have been to a couple of craft shows and I've also managed to finish a couple of UFO's.  I am also spreading the word about FreeForm which I love doing.  I teach crochet in a leisure centre and have managed to convert a few people to FF.  I am also excited to be able to say I have been invited as an assistant to Prudence Mapstone to go with her to Perth, Australia. This is a huge honour for me as Prudence is a world known FF artist and has written several books on the subject.  Perth is a good 5 hours by air travel across the other side of Australia to me and I've never been before.  The trip is in May so I'll be able to tell you all about it when I return.
I hope this finds everyone well, but my prayers to those that are sick.
