BATAVIA -
An Attica teenager died and her two passengers suffered
serious injuries Tuesday morning after the car she was
driving collided with a van at the intersection of Route
98 and Batavia-
Elba Townline Road.
Genesee County sheriff's deputies said Sonja M.
Hallows, 17, of Route 98, was driving east on
Batavia-Elba Townline Road when she failed to stop at
the stop sign at the intersection. The car collided with
a utility van driven by Dale C. Ellison, 41, of Gaines
Road, Albion, who was heading south on Route 98.
The van hit the driver's side of the car, deputies
said, and both vehicles went off the southeast corner of
the intersection. The accident was reported at 8:35 a.m.
Hallows and two passengers, Justin J. Koepp, 18, of
Oak Street, and Kelly Bullock, 18, of North Street Road,
Le Roy, had to be cut free from the wreckage.
Hallows was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in
Rochester, where she died.
Deputies said Koepp, who suffered serious head and
internal injuries, was airlifted to Erie County Medical
Center in Buffalo. He was in critical condition in an
intensive care unit Tuesday night.
Bullock suffered possible internal injuries and a
broken leg, deputies said. She was taken by ambulance to
the medical center, where she was awaiting surgery.
Ellison, who reported chest pain, was taken to United
Memorial Medical Center North Street.
An investigation continues.
