A teen driver was killed and his three passengers injured Wednesday in an early morning wreck in east Cobb County.

The single-vehicle crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. on Johnson Ferry Road, just north of Lake Brill Road and about a half-mile north of Ga. 120, according to Cobb police Cpl. Brody Staud.

Staud said 18-year-old William H. Smith of Marietta was northbound when he lost control of the 1994 Toyota Corolla. The car ran off the right side of the road, overturning and hitting a utility pole.

Smith, who had just graduated from Lassiter High School, died at the scene, Staud said.

The front seat passenger, Alexandra Hickey, 18, of Marietta, was taken to North Fulton Regional Hospital, and was in critical but stable condition.

The two back seat passengers, Chandler Corley and 19-year-old Richard Carrozza, were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of injuries that Staud said were not life-threatening. Corley's age was not immediately available, but police said both were from Marietta.
