Explanation: Before Lee and Amanda got together, I had kind of always assumed that not only was Lee afraid to fall in love, he was also afraid to be loved. Because of this, and the fact that his parents died when he was young, his uncle raised him and then his partner died; he got the feeling that no one really truly cared for him, or needed him (which is why I think he was such a playboy in the beginning, because then he wouldn't have to worry about someone caring for him, or caring or needing someone himself). Anyway, I think after he and Amanda got together, this may have been something he would have said to her.
