Bad Timing Script Excerpts

First off, PD2 is called Antyzm 24 in the script, but it still does the same thing.

Okay, this scene is in the beginning, from the restaurant.

***

Lee:
You're not paying attention, Amanda.

Amanda:
Wrong. I'm not missing a beat.

Lee:

(Smiling)
Why don't we get out of here. We could have dessert at my place.

Amanda:
I'm on a diet.

Lee:
I was thinking of something that's not fattening.

Amanda:
I know. I am too, but it's late and we've got to be at work early.

Lee:
I'll write us a note.

Amanda:
How about an instruction manual?

Lee:
For What?

Amanda gestures to Lee's hand

Amanda:
How to deal with this...

Lee:
You're asking the wrong guy. It has me climbing the walls, too.

Amanda:
What are we going to do?

Lee:

(beat)
Probably wait until we're sure what's right and what's wrong. Until then, we should find higher walls to climb.

Amanda:
That could be hard.

Lee:
Very.

(he checks his watch)
We'd better go. It is late.

Amanda:
I'll give you a ride.

Lee:
I think I'll walk. The cold air'll do me good.

Okay, this next part, was left in the original episode. For you people who have seen it, there are some extra things, mainly just the wording is different in some parts. I figured I'd put the whole scene in though for those of you who have only seen the pax version of this episode. This scene is where Amanda makes Lee go to the Agency doctor.

***

The office of Carl Carlsen, Agency sawbones. Standard doctor's office, with impressive sampling of high tech medical gear. Lee looks very pained, Carlsen's amused. Amanda's standing nearby watching.

Carlsen:
Relax, Scarecrow. We don't let blood or use leeches anymore. Besides, you hotshot agents gotta realize you get 'owies' just like the other kids.

Lee:
I don't have any 'owies,' Doc. I told Amanda that....

Lee glances toward Amanda. She just smiles demurely.

Carlsen:
And don't start on her. Mrs. King was following Agency procedure when she phoned me. Besides, you should be pleased there's someone in the world who cares enough to drag you down here...

That shuts Lee up. During the following, Carlsen's rolling up Lee's sleeve, taking some blood. We, of course, don't see the details.

Carlsen:

(continuing)
Fot three years he's ducked the Agency physical. We've had a standing five hundred dollar pool for the guy who finally nabbed him. Let me know your favorite champagne...

Carlsen finishes with the blood.

Carlsen:

(continuing)
Finished here. Say goodbye, make your standard donation in the john, and meet me next door. Thanks again, Mrs. K...

Carlsen waves merrily and leaves. Lee turns to Amanda.

Lee:
You happy?

Amanda:
If you're going to be healthy and well, I'm very happy.

Lee:
You don't know Carlsen. I'll be here for hours while he rediscovers the human body. Meanwhile, I've got a room full of agents sitting on their thumbs.

Amanda:
Speaking of which, when's your meeting over?

Lee:
Depends on when it gets started. Why?

Amanda:
Mother and the boys are leaving for three days this afternoon, and I was planning to reward your heroics down here with dinner.

(smiling)
I figure it'd be practice for the real thing.

Lee:
I'm a firm believer in practice making perfect.

Amanda:
Me, too.

Lee:
Carlsen was right, you know. I should be happy someone cares enough to worry about me.

(smiling)
And I am. Very much.

Amanda smiles and leans in to kiss Lee. Carlsen ducks his head back into the office.

Carlsen:
Mrs. King, start the physical therapy later. I'm not through with the boy yet....

Okay, this part is the part right before Lee has to go to Mrs. McMurphy's. Lee is up in the Q-bureau letting Amanda know what is going on. Billy has not come up to tell Lee about the news on Doneck, yet. It's just a little different than what was in the original episode.

***

We find Amanda sitting stiffly behind her desk. Lee's pacing in front of her.

Lee:
That's as much as we know right now. Hodgson's doing everything he can, but...

Amanda:
It all sounds so cut and dry. So cold...

Lee doesn't respond. Amanda's suddenly up and in his arms.

Amanda:

(smiling)
It's going to be all right. Isn't it?

Lee:
Sure. We'll blow through this one just like all the other scrapes we've been in...

(trying to smile)
A year from now, this'll just be another memory in the Stetson-King scrapbook.

Amanda:
Right...Something to show the kids when we're old and gray.

They hold each other again. The door opens. It's Billy. Lee and Amanda don't adjust for his benefit. To Billy's credit, he doesn't seem to notice. He seems brighter.

Okay, this is after the "I want more time" line. One thing you should know is that Amanda cooked dinner for Lee.

***
Lee is sitting in front of the fireplace. Dinner dishes are on the coffee table in front of him. Amands crosses from the kitchen, holding a snifter of Cognac. She sits, smiles at Lee. He smiles back.

Lee:
That was great.

Amanda:
Yeah.

(raising snifter)
To more great dinners.

She drinks, hands the glass to Lee. He takes a healthy swig. Amanda keeps him from finishing.

Amanda:
Save some...

(off his look)
For later. Upstairs.

Amanda leans over and kisses him, then stands, takes his hand and leads him toward the stairs. Just as they start to exit, Lee stops her. He stares at her for a beat, kisses her gently, then bends and lifts her off the ground and into his arms.

Okay this next scene, is just a couple of frames later. It is continued on with this scene. It's when Francine and Billy come to the door.

Francine rings the doorbell. Nothing. Billy nervously checks his watch, punches the bell. Finally the door opens and we see Amanda. Right behind her is Lee. The looks on their faces, their clothes, their attitude -- nothing tells us anything about what's been going on inside. Lee steps in front of Amanda.

The scene then picks up where it did in the episode, with Francine and Billy telling Lee they are going to help him.
